The GCM team deliver on the firm’s growth and trust ambition by driving execution, consistency and efficiency of sales and Go To Market processes, driving a strong and consistent sales culture, increasing our win rate on global opportunities and delivering a compelling and consistent client experience across the firm. Therefore, enabling Global Lead Partners and their teams with an ability to leverage the right resources, solution, knowledge and processes to ensure KPMG wins by delivering brand defining work at brand defining clients.

Role Summary

KPMG International established a Geopolitics team in 2016 to coordinate member firm efforts related to geopolitics.

Assisting clients with geopolitics represents a significant revenue opportunity globally for KPMG through a combination of brand new services, and linking solutions and wrappers on traditional products. In order to capture this revenue opportunity and establish KPMG as the Clear Choice in this market, the Geopolitics team supports client pursuits and project delivery across the global network of member firms.

The team is responsible for a complex and evolving program of activities aligned to our Trust and Growth ambitions, ultimately to:
• Grow revenue, using the ‘politics that matter’ to drive client relationships, originate opportunities, and differentiate traditional offerings.
• Strengthen the brand and establish KPMG as a trusted advisor in this market by providing a tailored perspective on geopolitical issues, focusing both on risk and new areas for growth;
• Equip teams to speak credibly to clients about these macro, non-financial risks, ensuring that GLPs have the tools necessary to sell and deliver projects.

The team is also responsible for managing KPMG’s global Alliance with Eurasia Group, a leading geopolitical risk consultancy.

The role of the Global Geopolitics Lead is to position KPMG’s global network of capabilities for maximum exposure and commercial success related to geopolitical events and issues. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Clients and Markets, the primary responsibilities of the role of the Director include:
• Sales lead across all Geopolitics offerings, from origination to conversion
• Subject matter expert in delivery of engagements
• Global voice of KPMG on the business impact of geopolitics
• Solutions and methodology development
• Relationship owner for Eurasia Group

In addition, the role works closely with GCM leadership and KPMG global leaders (HoMs, GSHs, GLPs, Heads of Functions) to actively contribute to wider activities and ensure continued network alignment and support execution of respective business plans.

Applicants must feel comfortable working in a matrix organization and be able to juggle multiple asks, with a proven track record of working with KPMG country Senior Partners and global leadership. The candidate should be able to demonstrate strong business relationships and ideally will have successfully rolled out complex, business critical programs across a global, matrix organization. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to develop ‘original’ thinking on nascent and broad set of topics, and effectively communicate new ideas to senior client stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be commercially focused and forward thinking, with academic training in a related field (commerce, economics, law, political / international relations).

Key Accountabilities

40% • Sales lead across all Geopolitics offerings and subject matter expert in delivery: building institutional capability at the central level and in member firms to manage the pipeline of geopolitical-related opportunities and ensuring that client-facing teams have the tools necessary to sell and deliver projects, including but not limited to Strategy and Scenario Planning, Market Assessment, Strategic Risk Management and Geopolitical Audit.
40% • Global voice of KPMG on the business impact of geopolitics: leading efforts to position KPMG as a prominent voice on relevant issues, including authoring thought leadership and presenting at global events.
10% • Solutions and methodology development: spotting opportunities and driving efforts to develop and / or globalise service propositions in close collaboration with Eurasia Group and Global Functional Leads, such that clients experience a differentiated offering and globally consistent service delivery.
10% • Relationship owner for Eurasia Group and central coordination: leading the central team on a day-to-day basis related to the supplier and alliance relationships, project management, internal and external communications, planning and internal stakeholder engagement required to meet the objectives set out above.

Technical Skills

• Intimate knowledge and first-hand understanding of the workings of KPMG International and other member firms
• Experience in facilitating strategic discussions to senior client and internal audiences
• Prior experience of leading teams and coordinating projects across multiple KPMG member firms
• Proven track record of thought leadership on client issues. Various media preferred (print, TV, radio, online).

Description of level of Qualifications

• Academic training in Economics, Politics, Commerce, Law or a related field to understand the overarching principles of geopolitical issues and their impact on global business

Experience/Knowledge

You should be:
• Currently in a junior Director or experienced Senior Manager role
• Efficient and highly organised, with the ability to calmly and effectively prioritise and juggle multiple projects/ tasks and the demands of different stakeholders, and to meet deadlines under pressure
• Strong sense of responsibility and ownership, with the ability to work without direction/minimal guidance and to pursue tasks through to completion with energy, initiative and enthusiasm
• Sharp, proactive, pragmatic and resilient. Demonstrates flexibility and comfortable multitasking and working in a dynamic and varied environment.
• Good analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving. Able to undertake and analyse complex issues and challenges, evaluate options and make recommendations with clear supporting rationale
• Track record of delivering and delivery focused; hands on mentality
• Excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage, build networks and relationships across key stakeholders and internal clients. Is a strong team player and works collaboratively to deliver projects and tasks effectively
• Proven communication skills with the ability to present information in a clear and effective manner
