Operational Excellence Lead- Process Improvement

The Team
We are looking for an experienced Process Improvement lead to join our Operational Excellence team as we deliver a programme of operational improvements across KPMG’s Tax and Legal (T&L) department. The Role
Working closely with the Principle Programme Manager, the successful applicant will lead a team of Operational Excellence professionals, holding responsibility for leading and growing the team’s improvement programme pipeline while embedding a Process Improvement culture and framework across the business.

The successful applicant will hold performance and line management responsibilities for a team of PI professionals therefore ability and experience in coaching others in PI methodologies and supporting personal development is essential.

The role can be based anywhere in the UK, though preference will be given to candidates in Glasgow and London. Regular travel to Glasgow or London will be required once travel conditions permit this. Remote or part-time workers are welcome to apply.

The successful applicant will be required to lead change through others in support of a business spanning multiple centres in onshore and offshore operations. Cross cultural awareness and experience are highly advantageous, while being able to demonstrate the ability to proactively build and maintain strong internal networks is essential.

Main responsibilities include:
- Working with senior business/process stakeholders to identify and lead a pipeline of PI initiatives across the business with aim to deliver measurable process efficiency, financial and risk benefits
- Working with the Principal Programme Manager to build, drive and enhance the team’s strategy and vision across the business
- Owning the successful delivery of projects within the improvement programme from initiation through to implementation (experience of delivery through various project methodologies beneficial, e.g. DMAIC, Agile)
- Working with the Technology team to develop innovative and root cause driven technology solutions underpinned by smart, scalable processes
- Coaching OE analysts/Senior OE Analysts on project and process improvement tools/techniques; developing individual skills and demonstrating best practice
- Developing and leading a range of initiatives aimed at creating a culture of Process Improvement across the business
- Driving and maintaining the team’s PMO framework (reporting, governance, co-ordination)
The Person
- Process Improvement qualifications (Six Sigma & Lean principles preferred)
- Strong record of delivering business change initiatives through use of Process Improvement tools and methodologies (e.g. DMAIC framework, A3 problem solving, kaizen facilitation)
- Experience in performance management and people development within a change and improvement role
- Proven ability to coach and train others in the use of Process Improvement tools and methodologies
- Skilled in project management and delivery tools including milestone planning, risk awareness and leading project communications (project qualifications i.e. Prince2/Agile welcomed but not necessary)
- Strong data analysis skills with experience in coaching and upskilling others in data interpretation and visualisation
- Proven ability to work closely with Technology teams inclusive of consulting on change management principles and supporting with Technology requirements
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with ability to build and maintain relationships with key contacts across all business levels
- Working knowledge of project associated software is preferable (e.g. MS Visio, JIRA, Minitab/Sigma Excel)
- Ability to get quickly up to speed on our various tax technology offerings as they apply to Operational Excellence
