Job Title: Switchboard Operator
Role Type: FTC - 12 month
Reports to: Swithboard Superviser / Manager
Dept: Facilities - KBS
Working Hours: 09:30am - 17:30pm
Location: Watford
Grade: Switchboard Operator


Facilities provides premises and workplace support services including the acquisition, disposal, management and maintenance of its portfolio comprising in excess of 1.4m square feet in 22 locations and support services including the provision and management of accommodation, catering, vending, mail delivery and collection, records management, switchboard and directory services, reception, hospitality and meeting room support, health and safety compliance, premises security and business continuity.

The switchboard operator will assist the Switchboard Supervisor/Manager and is responsible for processing all calls received through the main switchboard in a courteous and professional manner, demonstrating the highest level of client service at all times. To provide a first class award winning service that supports the business in securing and maintaining our clients and in accordance with the KPMG brand / operational guidelines.

Main Accountabilities:

- Provide an excellent service whilst representing and protecting the firm’s brand in all transactions.
- Be proactive in ensuring their understanding of the business, the operational structure and the key contacts.
- Understand the internal systems referenced to obtain contact data and reference material to perform the role effectively and efficiently.
- Process enquiries in a courteous and professional manner at all times and in accordance with the current operating model, orally and written.
- Where required, participate in the team rota to ensure all operating hours are fully sourced to secure the desired client experience at all times.
- Participate in activities designed to positively market Facilities Switchboard, raising the profile and importance of this service within the business.
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve the switchboard tools and resources referenced in role.
- Participate in exercises that assist in identifying all opportunities to further develop the service, the team and/or the individual e.g mystery callers.
- Assist the Supervisor/Manager in any other duties that may be deemed within scope of the role
- Assist the Facilities Service Desk with related activities as required
- Keep all administrative tasks up to date
- Share knowledge and best practice with the team
- Actively participate in all developmental opportunities

Qualifications, Skills Key Competencies:

- Proficiency in using Switchboard Directory System (SDS) preferred but not essential.
- Good oral and written communication
- Professional, courteous and positive manner
- Some flexibility regarding working hours
- Smart, presentable appearance
- To be educated to GSCE level (or equivalent) standard including English and Maths
- Attention to detail whilst continuing to deliver high standards of service during busier periods and within strict operating models.
- Understanding of the firm’s structure and business activities
- Able to demonstrate the Global Behavioural Capabilities required for the grade/role
- Able to demonstrate the KPMG Values and Attributes


- Previous experience working for a large organisation in a customer services related role
