Job Description
KPMG provides Audit, Tax and Advisory services to clients, with these client-facing functions being supported by the KPMG Business Services function (KBS).

Within KBS, the firm has an established Procurement function resourced with qualified procurement professionals responsible for supporting the firm’s £400m+ expenditure on bought-in goods & services. Ownership of supplier relationships resides with the business and not Procurement however, the benefit of the negotiated deal may never be realised, if the supplier relationship is not managed appropriately.

Given the above, we have created a CFO sponsored Supplier Management Centre of Excellence (CoE) which sits within Procurement and provides training and development and a suite of tools and techniques, to support the business to better manage supplier relationships across contract management, performance management and relationship management. As part of this, the CoE also drives our BiTC accredited Sustainable Procurement programme.

This Supplier Management role sits within the Procurement team and will manage multiple key strategic relationships from the business areas specified.

Overview of the Position / Key Responsibilities

Contract Management:

- Demonstrate strong Contract and Supplier management skills with the ability to develop realistic and compelling strategies for communicating the value of supplier management strategies.
- Comprehensive understanding and experience in managing and overseeing supplier contracts.
- Developing and driving supplier improvement plans when performance is not at required standard (whether contracted or otherwise).

Financial and Quantitative Analysis

• Tracking and monitoring of financial performance of supplier delivery versus business requirements and/or contractual commitments.
- Tracking and monitoring of KPI / Management Information of supplier delivery versus contract and in particular and link and payment against risk/reward model.
- Provide appropriate challenge to the business in light of requested changes that increase cost and/or risk making appropriate recommendations and documenting variations to the contract in a timely and accurate manner.

Relationship Management

- Ability to build and develop effective relationships with key internal stakeholders demonstrating a full understanding of their drivers & requirements and ensuring the supplier is meeting the requirements of the business.
- Ability to build and develop effective relationships with key external stakeholders, ensuring the supplier behaviours are channelled appropriately via the right conduit.

Project Management

- Strong project management skills with the ability to develop realistic and comprehensive timetables to ensure that project deadlines are understood, roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and communicated to the stakeholder(s).
- Ability to work under pressure, managing conflicting requirements whilst meeting business expectations and delivering excellent client service.

Team Player

- Act as a mentor to the less experienced members of the category team, offering support and advice as appropriate.


• Appropriate consideration of CR & diversity criteria within supplier relationship activities and active participation in the firm’s Sustainable Procurement Programme.
- Application of the firm’s independence & reciprocity policies, and application of the Supplier Management Centre of Excellence standard processes, tools, templates & systems to all Supplier Management activities.

In particular the position requires:

- Broad SRM experience with a proven track-record of successful management of supplier relationships within complex corporate environments.
- Proven track-record of successfully overseeing large, multi-faceted, contracts with evidence of financial benefit delivery, effective contract management and innovation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) desirable but not essential.
- Preferably a fully qualified member of applicable national Procurement institute (e.g. CIPS).
- Proven experience in Supplier Relationship Management or equivalent commercial roles, preferably with the majority gained within the Benefits and Wellbeing Category of expenditure (including company medical, flexible benefits, group income protection and fleet).
- Relevant industry experience; Professional Services, Financial Services etc.
