Supplier Commercial Lead, Procurement

Procurement have responsibility for leading all sourcing activities, with supplier management activities devolved to the relevant Business Function, except for Travel Management.
Procurement also owns an executive sponsored Supplier Management Programme and Centre of Excellence (CoE), incorporating a centrally developed a Supplier Management Framework – containing methodology, tools and templates to support colleagues who have supplier management responsibilities. Ambition of the programme is the broaden the capability, quality and consistency to how contract management and commercial management applied across the firm.

The Supplier Commercial Lead, is a newly created senior level role, which will play a pivotal role in driving value, innovation, delivery assurance to realise the commercial strategy with our key suppliers.

Context of role

The expectation is that this role will be a key interface between the Business, who are responsible for operationalising the services delivered by the Suppliers, and Procurement who are the ‘commercial guardians’ for KPMG’s expenditure. The role will sit within Procurement with dual reporting to the relevant functional area, with responsibility for ensuring the most effective commercial approach is undertaken with our key suppliers through the life of the contracts by working closely with the business and Procurement Heads of Category.

You will lead, together with Contract Managers, relationships with our key suppliers. Your focus on continuous improvement of value realisation and service excellence will be gained through building, influencing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders, including leaders across KBS and beyond.

The specific scope of this role is to work directly with services scope of the Corporate Services / People Function, which may over time span a wide variety of services from Resourcing, Benefits and Learning.




Roles and Responsibilities

Take leadership of key supplier relationships to identify, drive and assure full commercial value is realised, throughout the contract lifecycle, in line with business and executive objectives.

Partner with the relevant Business Function Leadership Teams and Head of Category to develop sourcing strategies and ongoing spend management of key spend areas and suppliers

Oversee and ensure a high level of service is continually provided from the suppliers that you manage

Drive continuous improvement, innovation and best in class benchmarking consistently delivers improvements to the quality and value of service delivery.

Ensure the service provision is delivered in line with agreed contracts and Service Level Agreements, with support of contract manager(s) where applicable

Manage and report supplier improvement initiatives and workstreams across innovation, supplier development, performance improvement, risk management, sustainability and value improvement as appropriate

Build and develop close working relationships with key stakeholders and senior leadership teams both in the providers, KBS and beyond to support a quality and innovative service culture.

Drive Supplier Management and cultural awareness within the Supplier organisations, to better align values, core behaviours and service deliverables.

Pro-active risk management across key suppliers, including Information Security, Business Continuity, Health and Safety, Financial Crime and Financial Stability.

Proactively champion KPMG’s ESG agenda and the Sustainable Procurement programme. Working with the Sustainable Procurement Lead to ensure that KPMG’s sustainability objectives are interwoven as part of the wider supplier management programme.

Identify areas of opportunity within the functions you are assigned to and deliver value by cross collaboration, SRM insight and policy and spend control review

Establish a governance structure and best practice joint process improvement, strategic relationship building and innovation with the supplier relationships you manage.

Develop and maintain a supplier management strategy for the suppliers and spend areas under your control.










Essential Skills and Experience

Proven track-record of successfully executing supplier management solutions, or commercial benefits across a wide stakeholder group and the value achieved through successful supplier relationships.

Strong influencing skills to ensure successful application of Supplier Management methodology and commercial strategy and governance.

Business understanding: Ability to interface and work both within the department and with 3rd parties, at all levels representing KPMG externally, demonstrating an understanding of the KPMG business needs and how 3rd parties can support in the delivery of these.

Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas in a focussed, simple and commercially relevant manner.

Strong influencing skills (able to build business partner relationship) with the ability to challenge at all levels. Ability to influence at a senior level and manage complex stakeholder relationships.

Leadership skills and personal drive to deliver results.

Communication skills: The ability and self-confidence to communicate concisely and effectively both in oral and written form to build and maintain business relationships, build confidence, credibility and trust and influence key stakeholders within KBS Business Functions, client teams and senior leadership where appropriate.

Experience in outsourcing, and management of outsourced Shared Services from contract to go-live of service delivery































Qualifications and Experience

Direct experience in the Corporate Services and HR Services Procurement category and supply base






-
Experience in relevant commercial roles, preferably within the supplier relationship management arena

Strong appreciation of financial/professional services culture

Degree qualified (or equivalent)
