Job Description

The firm’s strategy and vision increasingly incorporates bigger, transformational changes and a requirement to implement at a faster pace. At the same time, the cost of failure is increasing, and we cannot afford to deliver change programmes not aligned to the strategy or not delivering planned business benefits.

To overcome these challenges, the Transformation Centre of Expertise is established to manage the firm’s portfolio of change thereby reducing change risk, improving realisation of business benefits and return on investment.

Transformation Centre of Expertise delivers changes through a One Delivery team approach made up of four key capabilities:

- Programme and project delivery
- Project Management Office (PMO)
- Enterprise Portfolio Management Office
- Change Management

The Senior Project Manager will work with multiple business stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of internal projects, as well as performance managing more junior members of the team to delivery their projects effectively.

Role Overview

- To define, manage and deliver complex delivery projects
- Manage multiple projects from inception to closure
- To support the project sponsors to:
o Set the scope and priorities for the internal transformation
o Define and stand up the required governance and programme structure
o Determine roles and responsibilities for delivery and benefits realisation
- To design and facilitate workshop sessions to drive strategic decisions and requirements
- To prepare and present progress updates on a monthly basis – including option paper decisions (for the programme Steer Co meetings), managing risks, issues, dependencies and changes to the scope
- To prepare for regular Steer Co meetings, including producing high quality packs, agendas
- To run regular meetings with sponsoring partners, providing guidance on governance, challenge on previously agreed objectives and progress; inspiring, motivating and sharing the vision of the workstream and programme with these key stakeholders.
- To manage resourcing in line with the business case
- To hold regular catch up meetings with the Project Sponsor and Programme Lead on progress
- You will be expected to link in with the wider firm, and potentially globally, in relation to the implementation of global standards and tools, attending relevant meeting where appropriate
- Adoption of programme tools and templates as set out by the Transformation CoE.
- Manage the workstream budget on behalf of the programme senior sponsor, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits
- Manage internal & external communications in respect of the workstream and produce a comms plan in-conjunction with the internal communications team
- Performance manage junior colleagues in the Transformation CoE team (who may be working on different projects to you given the structure of the team)


- In depth understanding of the UK firm, its functions, service lines and solutions
- Experience of working with multi disciplinary teams to implement operating models, changes to organisation design and associated comms and change activity
- Experience of working with technology and client facing teams, managing work streams and building strong stakeholder relationships
- Experience in managing a project team
- Experience facilitating and managing workshops focused on driving to successful outcomes
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
- Ability to build relationships quickly with and engage stakeholders, with a high impact in one on one / group / workshop situations
- Attention to detail and ability to react quickly and professionally to constantly changing requirements and demands
- Ability to produce high quality outputs in tight timeframes
- Drive effective knowledge sharing including conducting training and workshops for sponsoring partners and the Solutions and Digital leadership team
- Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively given the role may have conflicting priorities at any point in time
- Ability to problem solve with senior stakeholders – challenging where appropriately
- Set, observe and re-evaluate project priorities frequently
