Senior Manager – Partnership Tax Team

The Role

The Partnership Tax team is responsible for the tax affairs of the KPMG UK group together with its overseas tax obligations. The Senior Manager role is a tax technical advisory role within the team. The individual will have deep tax technical knowledge covering ideally both partnership and corporate tax in order to advise the internal team on complex business matters and the disclosure of these to HMRC.

The Responsibilities
- Advising the Partnership Tax team on complex business matters which will cover both partnership and corporate tax issues and the subsequent disclosure of these to HMRC.
- Review of the KPMG LLP tax return and complex elements of certain corporate tax returns.
- Advice on the Senior Accounting Officer procedures.
- Advice on procedural matters with HMRC, including the Business Risk Review process.
- Provision of advice on acquisitions, disposals and corporate reorganisations and the legal documentation in respect of these.
- Certain matters may require liaison with Tax Counsel and drafting the necessary instructions to Counsel.
- Liaison with and advice to internal and client-facing teams on tax issues arising from business activities and projects. Among other things this includes a formal review process for new services and alliances, in conjunction with TQRM.The Person – Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate a deep tax technical knowledge and ideally have the following skills and qualifications:
- Deep corporate and partnership tax knowledge. If partnership tax knowledge is limited a clear ability to quickly assimilate tax technical knowledge in new areas.
- M&A experience.
- Accounting knowledge and experience and awareness of accounting standards.
- Able to work well in a team environment. The ability to communicate effectively with peers, senior and junior team members is essential.
- Respect for confidential information.
- The role will involve working as part of a team. The individual will report to the Head of Business Tax.
