Job Description
As a Senior Project Manager within the UK IT Services Service Operations team, you will be responsible for defining the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout the project lifecycle across infrastructure for a programme of projects. This is a ‘hands on’ role and will require the individual to build strong productive relationships with managers and staff across IT and with external third parties in order to deliver effective solutions based on a thorough understanding of the business drivers for each party.
Working closely with the Head of Service Operations, Solutions and the Business Engagement and IT strategy teams you will lead the required resources, focusing on the delivery of IT change as agreed and demanded by the IT Services business. This is likely to include teams that span across IT Services and various 3rd party suppliers and you will be expected to bring these teams together, resolving issues in the provisions of a consistent service delivering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define project scope, goals and deliverable that support business goals in collaboration with IT senior management and stakeholders
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
- Act as the liaison between the project team and the IT department.
- Demonstrate strong communication to the Project Steering Group, especially when committing to deadlines or setting expectations.
- Manage project budgets (including tracking and reporting on team hours and expenses on a weekly basis).
- Identify resources needed for projects, gain agreements on resourcing and assign individual responsibilities.
- Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of the projects and their scopes.
- Manage the exposure and risk on assigned infrastructure projects.
- Ensure that all project designs conform to the standards of the Infrastructure/Architecture team
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key staff in other teams within IT.
- Manage the provision of services from third-party infrastructure services suppliers as per project demands

Skills & Experience:
- Experience of working on multiple projects with non-dedicated resources working with resource managers.
- Experience working with offshore development and testing partners
- Experience working with technical teams, such as: Infrastructure, Network, Security, VMware, Storage & Backup, Citrix and Database Administrators
- Have a strong customer focus, well developed influencing skills and the ability to work in a fast moving environment with rapidly evolving targets
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly results driven, with the energy and determination to succeed in a fast paced environment.
- Capability of working with people at all levels within and external to the business.
- Be able to think strategically, and be able to translate thinking into tangible plans to drive the business to achieve its agreed goals.
- An ability to demonstrate good thinking and influencing skills to your team and stakeholders within the Business Unit.
- Able to operate fully in a business facing role, whilst having the technical competence to lead the IT technical teams.
- Experience of working with offshore development and testing partners and having driven change using a matrix managed set of geographically dispersed teams.
- Ideally educated to degree level in a business related subject or equivalent experience in a business or IT environment;
- Must have project management experience of working in a recognised industry or preferably professional services.
