Role Synopsis:
As the Senior Design/product specialist you will be responsible for the overall solution designs of the Audit portfolio of products and services into the UK firm.

The position plays a pivotal role in designing and architecting the solutions /technology of a suite of applications and services that make up our portfolio of internal Audit applications prior to their deployment into our production environment. In some cases this may include the ongoing redign and troubleshooting of systems that are already deployed and are experiencing technical issues.

This positions works in collaboration with a number of global KPMG forums where designs and architectures will be discussed and agreed. You will need to ensure that the UK’s requirements are well positioned and understood to ensure that we deliver suitable systems on behalf of the KPMG UK business.

This is a highly technical technical skills that will allow us to deploy solutions within our current datacenters but also in the necessary skills as we increasingly look to deploy our solutions to the Cloud.

As the Senior Design/Product specialist, you will play a fundamental role in our ability to deliver to our customers and internal stakeholders. Our customer expectations are very high, as such we are looking for adaptive, innovative and highly motivated people to deliver on time to required quality.

This is a challenging role requiring problem-solving skills working in a recently established team /service environment. Due to the nature of the assignments undertaken by KPMG the position requires autonomy, initiative, and a flexible/ resilient attitude. Above all, you will have a desire to drive progress in this role.

Primary responsibilities include:

- Working with a wide range of different roles and disciplines, e.g. technical managers, leads, test manager, programme and project managers and business analysts to achieve the desired outcome for the relevant projects and services;
- Day to day management of the team activities including designing solutions within the areas of the IT Audit Service;
- Accountability for design materials required for the successful delivery of new solutions and working with relevant team members to ensure they are transitioned into build activities appropriately;
- Assist in resource management and forecasting;
- Cost effective and commercially aware budgetary control and management for the recommendations made / designs provided;
- This is a hands on role where the role holder will be expected to define and govern the Design/Product standards, whilst working with the project teams to deliver the necessary changes to meet these standards.

Key Accountabilities:

- The Senior Design/Product specialist is in part responsible for the Solutions design of the Audit technology portfolio of work. They are accountable for ensuring the Solution are in line with business and ITS expectations and fit within the overall technology roadmap while remaining commercially viable and operationally efficient.
- Specific responsibilities include:
- Supporting other team members in their dialogue with the business to
- Input into the creation of business cases and budgetary forecasts to project estimates as required,
- understand changes in technical requirements and perceived constraints with the service for the benefit of the implementation and ITS overall;
- Identification of improvements in terms of operational efficiency of the various IT systems as Solution opportunities arise;
- Oversee tasks required to ensure effective operational acceptance of new services delivered into the wider ITS environment, influencing the scope and success criteria of pilot and/or proof of concept tasks;
- Assisting in resource forecasting and fulfilment, to enable the parallel implementation of services on an ongoing basis (including peaks in demand).
- Seek out opportunities to improve operational efficiencies and process improvements exposing bad behaviours where encountered;
- Provision and presentation of management information and escalation to management level stakeholders;
- Be a role model to other members of the team, by demonstrating professional attitude and behaviour at all times.
Essential Criteria:

- Significant solutions design and technical knowledge, to a level where you can challenge and support technical decisions being made and can make effective judgements on the correcto course of action to ensure best outcomes.
- Hands on solutions design experience and a desire to remain activliy involved in the detail development of design process.
- Works in a collaborative manner and recognises the value of working in co-operation with the wider teams and stakeholders to deliver best outcomes.
- Experience of managing a complex IT team which is a combination of internal resources and 3rd party managed services
- Ability to identify opportunities for technical efficiency and implement within agreed solutions
- Management skills – ability to operate in a collaborative environment
- Organisational skills and the ability to plan time effectively
- Actively plans ahead and organises schedule to ensure deadlines to objectives or tasks are met.
- Ability to articulate business requirements into well thought out and articualte designs that ensure quality of released product
- Able to effectively deal with changing priorities or obstacles and to provide alternative options or solutions.
- Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail
- High level of solution analysis skills
- Strategic thinking - Considers the wider impact an issue may have on department or business.
- Customer focused at all time
- Fluent English skills; demonstrates effective written and verbal skills and is capable communicating within and across teams, up through executive channels and across vendors and third parties.
- Ability to Develop and explain complex operational management information
- Appetite to lead and collaborate within a team in a unpredictable, high decision volume, evolving environment
Expert level knowledge and experience of many technologies such as (but not limited to):
- Microsoft Office 365 Technologies
- Azure Active Directory
- Microsoft Azure Cloud
- Identity Management
- Software Define Data Centre
- Overall Microsoft toolsets/technologies

- Significant demonstrable experience in a similar IT technical management role
- Experience of solutions implementation
- Ability to report at senior level across multiple disciplines and develop and leverage co-operative relationships with internal and external stakeholders (managers, suppliers/ partners etc).
- Ability to work under pressure dealing with a high volume of change
- Experience of budgeting and forecasting
- Managing milestones, quality standards
- Decision maker, able to act on own initiative but also able ask for guidance when appropriate
- Highly experienced in planning, facilitating, and managing technological change
- Experience of working in a matrixed, dual reporting organisation where not all resources are directly owned by you
