Job Description
Role Synopsis

As a Project Manager within the UK ITS Solutions team, you will be expected to manage the delivery of a series of internal IT projects to the KPMG UK business.

Project Managers are expected to ensure that their projects produce the required outputs, to the required standard of quality and the within the specified constraints of time, cost and quality.

Project Managers will be expected to follow the KPMG project lifecycle from inception to completion using standard project lifecycle practices and artefacts. You will be responsible for ensuring key project components are in place, such as; an appropriate project organisation; a clear statement of requirements and benefits; planning and scheduling project activities; controlling the execution of project plans; managing risk and quality; configuration management and change control.

Project Managers will often find themselves delivering projects within a programme and as such will be accountable to the Programme Manager responsible for that programme of work.

Key Accountabilities

- Manage the delivery of project products as defined by the KPMG Project Methodology and Quality Management System;
- Direct and motivate the resources assigned to the Project Team;
- Plan and monitor the project with regards time, cost, resources and the quality of the end products;
- Agree roles and responsibilities for the project including the formation of an appropriate project governance structure;
- Prepare Project, Stage and, if necessary Exception Plans in conjunction with Project Team and agree them with the Project Sponsor and the Programme Management Office;
- Manage business and project risks, including the development of contingency plans;
- Take responsibility for overall progress and use of resources, and initiate corrective action where necessary;
- Engage and manage the technical resources within ITS to deliver the constituent elements (e.g. resources from ITS teams such as: Security, Network, Desktop, Server Technologies, Packaging, Architecture) within the framework of the project.
- Managing progress and project reporting for all technical resources assigned to the project
- Where appropriate, manage the vendor and product assessment process and external Supplier Management throughout the project delivery.
- Responsible for managing the scope via a structured change control process;
- Report to the Project Board and Programme Office through Status Reports and Stage Assessments;
- Agree technical, quality and communication strategies with the Project Board;
- Prepare post implementation reports and include learning’s within subsequent project stages and via updates to the KPMG Quality Management System (QMS)
- Where required you will be expected to manage the delivery of multiple small projects and service requests to the KPMG business functions applying an appropriate service delivery framework rather than a full project lifecycle
- May take line management responsibilities for one or more of the Junior Project Managers within the team including; objective setting; performance management; pastoral reviews; guidance and support; specific coaching;
- Coaching one or more of the Junior Project Managers within the team around areas of best practice

The Person

Skills

- Knowledge of working with and delivering a wide variety of IT and related technologies;
- Driven and enthusiastic with a ‘can-do’ attitude to get the job done in a practical and pragmatic fashion whilst working collaboratively with others;
- Proven written and oral communications skills and strong interpersonal skills that can be executed credibly to inspire confidence in you and the delivery of the project;
- A strong problem solver with a pragmatic and tenacious attitude to seek out resolutions;
- A desire to work closely with internal customers and senior stakeholders in order to deliver the best value from our IT solutions
- A desire to deliver a good quality output and to keep the internal customers informed and satisfied;
- Demonstrable project management expertise with experience of having delivered projects through a full project lifecycle

Experience (Desirable)

- Experience of working in a Professional Services environment
- Experience of delivering business and technical infrastructure projects;
- Experience of working with a wide variety of IT technologies
- Service Delivery and Relationship Management experience

Qualifications (Desirable)

- Has an industry recognised project management qualification, ideally Prince 2 or APM Practitioner
- A practical knowledge of ITIL
- Educated to degree level in a business related subject or equivalent experience in a business or IT environment;
- A strong problem solver with a pragmatic and tenacious attitude to seek out resolutions
