Role:
As a Programme Manager within the UK IT Services Solutions team, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of a defined range of programmes and projects across an agreed portfolio.
Working closely with the Head of Solutions and the Business Engagement and IT strategy team you will help support the development IT relationship with one or more KPMG business functions and as such will be expected to act as a ‘trusted business advisor’. While the relationship is owned by the Business Engagement team, your role is one of delivery and will play a key role in support to ensure the services offered and delivered by the IT function are correctly aligned with the needs of the KPMG business.
You will lead the required resources, focusing on the delivery of IT change as agreed and demanded by the KPMG business. This is likely to include teams that span across IT Services and various 3rd party suppliers and you will be expected to bring these teams together, resolving issues in the provisions of a consistent service delivering solutions.
Additionally, as a Programme Manager, you will form part of the IT Service Solutions management team, taking responsibility for the line management of a number of Senior Project Managers/Project Managers helping to coach them through their career development. Programme Managers also impart their knowledge and expertise in evolving the best practise followed by the whole group and provide support to changing and adopting new ways of working. Programme Managers are also expected to liaise with their counterparts to identify and manage key interdependencies between programmes.

Key Responsibilities:


- You will need to establish a trusting working relationship with key stakeholders within ITS and the business:
- Developing strong, trusting and credible relationships with business functions;
- Translating business requirements and high level designs into a programme of IT change;
- Day-to-day management of the programme, including taking the programme forward from appointment, supervising and closing the programme, including;
- being the day-to-day person responsible, on behalf of IT Services, for the successful delivery of programmes and projects;
- defining the programmes governance framework;
- effective co-ordination of the projects that make up the programme and their interdependencies;
- managing and resolving any risks and other issues that may arise escalating when and where appropriate;
- managing the programme’s budget, monitoring the expenditure and costs against benefits that are realised as the programme progresses;
- facilitating the appointment of individuals to the project delivery teams;
- ensuring architectural coherence within the IT Services strategy and design authorities;
- ensuring maximum efficiency in the allocation of resources and skills within the projects portfolio;
- managing communications with stakeholders when and where required and appropriate;
- Reporting progress of the programme at regular intervals to Programme Governance and IT Services Leadership;
- Participation in the yearly budget process in conjunction with the Head of Business Engagement and IT Strategy;
- Being an active member of the IT Service Projects management team;
- Line management responsibilities for one or more of the Senior Project Managers/ Project Managers within the team including; objective setting; performance management; reviews; guidance and support; general coaching.
Skills & Experience:

- Has industry recognised project and programme management qualifications, ideally Prince 2 Practitioner, MSP or APMP
- Ideally educated to degree level in a business related subject or equivalent experience in a business or IT environment;
- Demonstrable project and programme management expertise with experience of having delivered a number of large and complex programmes from conception to closure;
- Ability to work positively with the full range of individuals and groups involved in the programme;
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of the programme management team, Senior Managers, Directors, Partners, project teams and 3rd party service providers;
- Necessary seniority to be able to take on the responsibilities required of the role;
- Strong leadership and management skills;
- Being able to understand the wider objectives of the programme and department wide portfolio;
- Credibility within the programme environment and ability to influence others;
- Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes, including risk management;
- Good knowledge of project management approaches
- Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures;
- Ability to find innovative ways of solving or pre-empting problems;
- Experience of having line managed a number of project professionals including experience in managing and coaching high performing teams;
- Driven and enthusiastic with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a strong sense of ownership to get the job done in a practical and pragmatic fashion without upsetting others;
- Proven written and oral communications skills and strong interpersonal skills that can be executed credibly to inspire confidence in you and the delivery of the project;
- A strong problem solver with a pragmatic and tenacious attitude to seek out resolutions;
- Experience of working in a Professional Services environment would be advantageous.
