Role Synopsis
As Test Manager you will be expected to establish and lead a first class test function within the Audit Technology delivery team within the ITS function.
You will play a pivotal role in testing the technology of a suite of applications and services that make up our portfolio of internal Audit applications prior to their deployment into our production environment. In some cases this may include the ongoing testing of systems that are already deployed and require further enhancements.

In this collaborative role you will be fundamental to our ability to deliver to our customers and internal stakeholders. Our customer expectations are very high, as such we are looking for adaptive, innovative and highly motivated people to meet these expectations.

This is a challenging role requiring problem-solving skills working in a recently established team responsible for the delivery of business critical systems.

As a Test Manager, you will need to ensure that all testing requirements are met to the appropriate standards including security, performance and non-functional requirements, with the aim of implementing continuous deployment across many applications. It will be the role holder’s responsibility to define and implement standards on testing tooling and test approaches in order to reduce the time to delivery.

The primary responsibilities include the definition of testing standards for;

- Non-functional testing
- Performance and load testing
- Integration testing
- End to end testing
- Fail over testing
This positions requires a subject matter expert in testing techniques/tools and agile delivery approaches to enable the team to deliver frequent releases with consistent testing approaches and outcomes.

This is a hands on role where you will need to define and govern the testing standards, whilst working with the project teams to deliver the necessary changes to meet these standards. The role will incorporate a significant amount of engagement and management of 3rd part supplier relationships, specifically in relation to testing resource requirements for overall project implementation.
The testing activities may provide out of hours support and this role will be expected to act as an escalation point as required.

Key Accountabilities:

The core responsibilities of the role are:

- Define an IT Projects Test Strategy to cater for various development methodologies
- Ensure a high degree of test automation
- Make use of appropriate testing tools and services (undertaking formal software / vendor selection where appropriate)
- Make use of external resources where appropriate
- Ensure that the testing strategy is kept up to date in the light of industry trends and changing business needs
- Create Test Documentation templates to support test activities
- Represent the testing work stream at IT Management meetings and Project stakeholder meetings
- Manage Test activities across projects (working closely with our global organisation)
- Coordinate Live Support defect retesting within IT and across business work streams
- Schedule pre-production environment usage
- Provide cross project status updates to both IT and Business and resource schedules on a weekly basis
- Escalate issues or risks to relevant project managers and the Engineering and Support Manager
- Coach and develop team members as appropriate
Manage 3rd party suppliers of testing resources and when required local contract resources
Essential Criteria:

- Significant demonstrable experience working within the IT industry within a large scale enterprise environment
- Demonstrable track record of using advanced testing tools and techniques across a variety of projects achieving successful outcomes
- Project management experience using a formal PM methodology e.g. Prince2
- Demonstrates ability to operate in a collaborative environment and manage work streams and requirements for a range of stakeholders.
- Organisational skills and the ability to plan time effectively; actively plans ahead and organises schedule to ensure deadlines to objectives or tasks are met.
- Ability to articulate business requirements into structured test plans to ensure quality of released product
- Able to effectively deal with changing priorities or obstacles and to provide alternative options or solutions.
- Demonstrates a clear attention to detail
- High level of solution analysis skills
- Strategic thinking - Considers the wider impact an issue may have on department or business.
- Demonstrable Knowledge of testing methodologies and techniques, able to select most appropriate choices dependent upon the requirement, is able to provide rational for decisions to technical and don technical stakeholders
