Role: HR Assistant - Student Onboarding
Role Type: FTC - 8 month
Grade: E1
Dept: Student Onboarding Team
Reporting to: Student Onboarding Team Leader
Working Hours: 09:30am - 17:30pm
Location: Watford


Role and person overview

The role will involve working as part of the Student Onboarding Team, responsible for making offers to and onboarding c1700 graduates and apprentices annually into the firm. You will take ownership and act as the key contact for all queries and actions necessary to support the onboarding of the Firm’s new joiners whilst ensuring we deliver an exceptional level of service in accordance to tight timescales. You will be perceived as reliable, credible, commercial and expert. You will manage challenging conversations and the business’ expectations drawing on advice from expert teams and senior colleagues.

As a member of the Student Onboarding Team, you are expected to demonstrate the Firm’s values at all times. As a HRA you will be encouraged to use your initiative when facing complications and driving solutions and support the improvement of efficiencies to achieve key deliverables.

Role and Responsibilities

Stakeholder Management

- Proactively develop strong and enduring relationships with key stakeholders – including external candidates and associates.
- Proactively work to educate the joining colleague on the onboarding process.
- Have the ability to take a logical and systematic approach to issues, thinking outside of the box and weighing up all options available to make an informed decision.
Case Management


- Processing offers received from Student Recruitment and creating letters for students through the 2xB system and becoming an expert in the system
- Effectively communicate with students throughout the onboarding period, which can sometimes exceed a year, understanding your role in terms of keeping the candidate engaged and committed to KPMG
- Hold a good understanding of the different tiers of right to work to enable effective communication to candidates as well as ensuring they are able to meet their state dates
- Ensure that graduates are screened to KPMG’s high standards and take personal responsibility for completing the onboarding process, including pre-employment health questionnaire, Ethics & Independence questionnaire, references, academic qualifications and right to work in the UK;
- Ensure the creation/amending of SuccessFactors and SAP records are up to date
Contributing to the team and People Function

- Share knowledge and experience proactively across the team and be recognised as a team player;
- Participate in ad hoc events, such as student inductions and assessment centres, collecting key documentation and ensuring that it meets our screening requirements.
- Take part in and contribute to functional and KPMG wide projects;
- Work with the Senior HR Assistant and Team Leader to continuously improve and streamline the quality of Student Onboarding work
- Take a personal responsibility to progress your own personal development;
- Take a personal responsibility to adhere to our ISO standards.
- Understand KPMG’s HR Shared Service vision and strategy, supporting the drive to fully embed this within People Operations and the wider firm.
Qualifications and Skills


- Excellent customer service skills, with a passion for delivering an outstanding level of service to a wide and complex client base;
- A team player, proactively seeking opportunities to share and develop the knowledge and skills set within the Student Onboarding Team;
- High levels of resilience, with experience of working in a highly pressurised and high volume client centric environment;
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to speak clearly and fluently, and draft non-standard communication;
- Ability to manage own workload, planning and prioritising as needed.
Experience and Background

You will be able to demonstrate experience in the key components of the role. This is typically underpinned by experience in a fast moving, responsive customer service or administration based office environment.
