Role Synopsis
As Engineering and Support manager you will be expected to establish and lead a first class Engineering, support and testing function within the Audit Technology delivery team within our IT Services Team (ITS)


This position plays a pivotal role in the delivery of a suite of applications and services that make up our portfolio of internal Audit applications prior to their deployment into our production environment. This will include ongoing involvement with applications that are already deployed and require further enhancements.

In this collaborative role you will be fundamental to our ability to deliver to our customers and internal stakeholders. Our customer expectations are very high, as such we are looking for adaptive, innovative and highly motivated people to meet these expectations.
This is a challenging role requiring problem-solving skills working in a recently established team responsible for the delivery of business critical systems.

Key Accountabilities:

The primary responsibilities include

- Day to day management of the Engineering, Operational Support and Testing teams.
- Lead and motivates this complex team of both in house and managed services resources, ensuring full integration of teams all working towards the goal of building a ‘best in class’ IT Service;
- Delivery effectively performance management: Coach, develop and support the individuals across the team
- Support the team to maximise utilisation and re-chargeability by balancing short term needs with longer term interests of our Audit business;
- Working closely and collaboratively with a wide range of different roles and disciplines within the immediate team and across the ITS function to deliver exceptional quality in the delivery of products and services to our Audit business
- Active and supportive role as part of the Audit Technology Delivery management team
- Accountability for all materials required for the successful delivery of new solutions and working with relevant team members to ensure they are transitioned into an operational state appropriately;
- Budgetary control and management for the recommendations made / designs provided
- Responsible for defining and governing the build, support and test standards, whilst working together with the project teams to deliver the necessary changes to meet these standards.
- Recommendations /development and implementation of continuous improvements to deliver efficiency gains through process, technology or/and automation activities
- Overseeing and ensuring all activities reflect, and are in compliance with, all regulatory, audit and legislative requirements
- Supports in overseeing major incident management / implementation of remedial activities
- Responsible for accurate documentation of all processes and procedures across the team.
Essential Criteria:


- Significant demonstrable experience working within the IT industry within a large enterprise scale
- The candidate will be able to demonstrate strong management to a level where they can challenge and support change across a variety of projects in a collaborative environment.
- Able to work autonomously demonstrating an ability to take the initiative, operate in a flexible manner and maintain a resilient attitude that can achieve the desired goals.
- Commercial management: experience of managing budgetary controls and is able to make decisions and recommendations based on these factors.
- Manage wider KPMG teams and 3rd party suppliers and contract resource when required.
- Project management experience using a formal PM methodology e.g. Prince2
- Demonstrates effective time management and organisation skills to ensure business objectives are co-ordinated and planned effectively and delivery on time and on budget.
- Ability to articulate business requirements into structured plans to ensure quality of released product
- Able to effectively deal with changing priorities or obstacles and to provide alternative options or solutions.
- High level of solution analysis skills
- Strategic thinking - Considers the wider impact an issue may have on department or business.
- Learn and apply knowledge of business and technology strategies and external influences and to make commercially aware, value adding contributions to the business. Ability to work with business representatives at senior level, helping define their strategy and explaining how technology can contribute.Behavioural Competencies
