Role Synopsis:

The ITS Disaster Recovery Manager will develop, manage, review and maintain the ITS Disaster Recovery plans aligned with Business Continuity Team. Additionally, this role will create test scenarios and collate detailed feedback and actions to further improve the active plans.
The role will advise on business impact and risk analysis for existing & new services and functional areas within ITS and assist in the maintenance and development of the overall KPMG BCM and DR programme.
It is essential the applicant is able to embed themselves in the wider KPMG organization and liaise with key stakeholders.
The role will be responsible for managing quarterly meetings and coordinating paperwork, taking action notes and maintaining an action log. Critical contact information will need to be regularly updated and you will need to continually review methods and processes to ensure best practice. BCM input to ITS Strategy is also a requirement for this role.
The role reports to the Service Operations Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

The core responsibilities will include:
Establish and maintain the overall plans for executing all DR procedures and understand their interdependencies.
Establish and maintain detailed DR communications and command and control plans through a change management process.
Work with the ITS technical teams to help develop test scope, test scripts, and monitor the execution of annual Disaster Recovery (DR) tests and ensure that disaster recovery solutions are adequate, in place, maintained, and tested as part of the regular operational life cycle.
Develop and understand all testing necessary for a successful DR execution.
Schedule and lead all DR exercises.
Provide ongoing feedback for risk management, mitigation, and prevention.
Represent disaster recovery cost requirements in the annual budgeting process.
Regularly report Disaster Recovery activities to upper management.
Act as liaison for auditing and examination of disaster recovery processes.
Help ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
In conjunction with Senior Management, review and update the Business Impact Analysis to maintain recovery requirements and business impacts of a business disruption
Assist in the facilitation and development of recovery strategies for business and technology teams
Monitor and communicate potential threats that may impact ITS service operations
Provide support in the event of a business disruption to manage the response coordination and communications
Document any issues experienced and lessons learned in a business disruption and track the progress to resolve open issues
Maintain working relationships with representatives of key business functions to help coordinate an adequate response in a crisis or business disruption
Monitor industry and Business Continuity Management regulatory news and trends
Review and update ITS Disaster Recovery policies and procedures as required
Track BCM program metrics to show the volume of activities and effectiveness Testing
Support Business Continuity Team on behalf of ITS internal teams;
Assist with Business Continuity tests/exercises as required

Desirable Criteria:

The position holder must be capable of working on their own initiative within the procedures and guidelines laid down. Knowledge of ITIL processes and methodology
An interest in technology and service delivery
Experience in configuring IT system monitoring tools
Exposure to working in a complex IT operation which is a combination of internal resources and 3rd party managed services
Ideally a background in compliance/risk management/quality control
Innovation / thought leadership / industry knowledge
Demonstrable knowledge of Business Continuity Management
Demonstrate knowledge of ISO22301
Ability to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and implement agreed solutions
Resilience, with high focus on ‘getting stuff done’.

Strong communications skills, written and verbal, within and across teams, up through executive channels and across vendors and third parties.

Qualifications and Previous Experience:

Decision maker, able to act on own initiative but also able ask for guidance when appropriate
Experienced in planning, facilitating, and managing change, Strong facilitation skill are key.
Experience of working in a matrixed, dual reporting organization where not all resources are directly owned by you
Previous IT operational management experience is key, preferably within an operating environment in a large enterprise
Experienced in a wide base of technology
Business experience in IT or a business university background or equivalent experience (desirable)
Experience of working in a busy IT Operations environment
Must be capable of working under pressure in a supportive environment, this will include dealing with escalations from the business, providing feedback on individual team members and dealing with several projects and problems simultaneously in an effective manner.
The position holder must be capable of working on their own initiative within the procedures and guidelines laid down.
The ability to communicate with all levels of staff, management and up to senior management level.
Will have worked within a Customer Services and 3rd party supplier relationship management environment
Someone who enjoys helping people with strong problem solving skills. Resilient, confident and tenacious.
Good interpersonal skills.
Prepared to work extended hours and travel to other sites/regions on a regular basis.
