Job DescriptionThe Team

KPMG's Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance Services (IARCS) practice within National Markets is an area of the firm with tremendous growth potential as proven by recent significant wins. It provides services relating to Internal Audit, Internal Control review, advisory projects and risk management. Clients are based in both the private and public sectors. Our services deliver added value to clients through the use of modern risk management and audit techniques focusing on strategic, management and operational issues, as well as financial.

Within IARCS, we have an opportunity for an Audit Assistant based in the Reading office. The role will be particularly attractive to those who have experience or knowledge of internal audit within a mid-market or large corporates environment.

The Role

As an Audit Assistant in IARCS there will be opportunities to work on a variety of engagements covering the spectrum of services that we provide including:

- Reviewing and establishing internal audit functions
- Assurance mapping
- Developing and delivering annual audit plans for clients
- Providing internal audit services on both outsourced and co-sourced contractual basis
- Working with client’s in house internal audit function to supply specialist or additional resource needed
- Sarbanes Oxley advisory services and delivery, including implementation projects and ingoing SOX testing
- Process improvement projects
- Risk management, governance and internal audit advisory services
- Risk identification workshops and control reviews
- Delivering control and risk training
- Project management of clients’ internal control questionnaires
- Corporate governance reviews
- Contract compliance audits
- Assessing effectiveness of internal audit functions, audit committees and boards

Responsibilities

- Building an understanding of client businesses
- Sharing knowledge with and coaching less experienced members of the team
- Building and developing client relationships
- Supporting the drafting of risk and control matrices to meet the needs of internal audit plans
- Undertaking testing and compiling audit evidence
- Running data analytics
- Identifying recommendations that address risk and improve clients’ control environments

The Person

Skills/Qualifications:

- Fluent written and spoken English is a pre-requisite.
- Part-qualified (ACA, IIA, CCAB, or equivalent).
- Significant experience of working in Internal Audit and/or Risk and Compliance within a big 4 professional services environment, particularly in the provision of fieldwork for internal audit and/or risk management engagements.
- Private sector and/or professional services experience is essential.
- Analyses problems, identifies core issues, investigates, evaluates and integrates information.
- Communicates with impact, in a way that is open, honest, consistent and clear.
- Builds the reputation of KPMG through the quality of work, knowledge and experience.
- Monitors and upholds high quality of service and products to clients (internal and external).
- Takes personal responsibility and accountability for own work.
