Summary of Role Purpose:
The Events and Hospitality Manager will focus on the delivery of events and hospitality activities (including digital events) across the UK. The individual will sit as part of the Operational Excellence Hub (OEH) and will manage the delivery of events and hospitality working in conjunction team members from across the Marketing function.

The Operational Effectiveness Hub (OEH) includes marketing and event specialists who bring operational capability and process execution to support the delivery of our marketing and strategic relationship programmes. Part of our Campaign Management team, the OEH works alongside the Marketing Centre of Expertise to support brand and risk management, event delivery, marketing effectiveness, campaign delivery and digital enablement.

Events and Hospitality are key to the delivery of a successful marketing plan, managing and delivering best practice planning and delivery in respect of our business events and hospitality activities. The Manager will have a good eye for detail, ensuring that all event and hospitality activity is delivered to an exceptional standard, and always with the potential to enhance the KPMG brand and support commercial aims.

Supported by, and leading, a team and in conjunction with colleagues across Marketing, the role holder will take the lead on project delivery to agreed timeline and budget whilst collaborating and leveraging the skills and capabilities across the broader function including data management, marketing effectiveness and digital marketing.

The individual will work closely with Programme Management to ensure engagement of the business and Marketing Business Partner colleagues in the event development and review process and that stakeholders are effectively briefed around timelines and activation requirements.


Description of the role:
- Leading and managing delivery of best practice planning for Events and Hospitality to support the Firm’s objectives and advance the brand.
- Devise, develop and manage the delivery of market differentiating digital event experiences including webinars and digital conferences
- Working alongside the Campaign Management team to ensure all programmes are joined up, sponsored and delivered on budget and in line with firm strategy.
- Responsible for the engagement of business and peers in the development and approval of event activity.
- Managing a team of event and hospitality professionals to support delivery of activity.
- Working with teams to ensure strong supplier management, including contract negotiation within budget and invoice settlement.
- Developing project management timelines, budget forecasts and resource requirements for required event and hospitality programmes.
- Ensuring that team processes are consistently and effectively applied across deliverables including hospitality and entertaining guidelines and brand, risk and data management policies.
- Identifying the need for and engaging specialist colleagues and agencies in the event development process including offshore colleagues.
- Working with Marketing Effectiveness to ensure that ROI is effectively measured, and lessons learned are shared with Marketing BPs and relevant marketing colleagues.
- Reporting back and propose improvements to our agency roster and operational processes.

This role will report to the Senior Manager, Campaign Delivery with reporting to the Head of Marketing Programmes and Delivery as required.

The individual will have responsibility for a team of Events & Hospitality Assistant Managers and an Executive.

Core technical competencies
- Event project management approaches including timeline development, cost management and resource planning.
- Familiar with the development process and best practice for developing end-to-end events and hospitality including digital.
- Managing agencies including brief writing and effective creative/concept review for event activity.
- Capable stakeholder manager able to seek their engagement in the event development process and manage constructive feedback effectively.
- Have the confidence and drive to influence people at all levels and maintain strong networks.
- Familiar with brand management including application of visual identity and messaging frameworks.
- Expertise of B2B event and hospitality management essential and experience of Professional services desirable.
- Able to apply risk and compliance processes effectively with experience of identifying risks and seeking support where needed.
- Comfortable with data and applying insights to event management.
- Able to lead the day-to-day management of the colleagues in their team including performance management and development support.

- Collaboration is a key requirement for this role including with Marketing Business Partners, other teams in Campaign Management and the business to best use the skills and ideas available and ensure good buy-in for the ultimate campaign.
You will be a good relationship-builder, creating useful networks internally and externally, and serving as an advisor and arbitrator for escalated conflicts or unresolved issues.


Expertise/ Technical role requirements:
- Proven track record within Events at Manger level at a professional services organisation.
- Experience of B2B events and hospitality and managing people essential.
- Highly proficient in all MS Office packages.
- Knowledge of CRM systems.
- Readiness to work unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends, ability to stay away from home as the role requires.
Skills:
- Excellent understanding of new approaches for events and hospitality programmes. Able to propose new ideas with a compelling and commercial rationale to seek business and marketing colleague support to apply this to activity.
- Solid understanding and knowledge of effective project and resource management including budget management.
- Good creative skills and able to bring innovative ideas around the role of events and hospitality as part of programmes.
- You will also be able to offer constructive commentary on some of the firm’s key event and hospitality activity as viewed from the public domain and offer suggestions as to how you might drive a step change in how the firm and its stakeholders perceive the brand.
