Job Description
KPMG’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC) comprises a team of experienced partners, lawyers and industry specialists who specialise in advising on and managing the handling of all major legal, regulatory and reputational issues affecting the firm on both a contentious and non-contentious basis. OGC provides extensive advice to KPMG’s leadership, partners and staff.

The OGC Commercial team currently consists of a Partner, two Directors and a significant team split between the firm’s offices in London and Reading. The team provides advice and support to the firm’s client engagement teams in contracting for audit, tax and advisory services to a wide variety of clients and a wide range of related legal risk management issues.
This position

This is an exciting opportunity for a non-contentious IT/technology lawyer with a broad commercial background and a minimum of 2-4 PQE to join the OGC Commercial team to primarily advise KPMG’s technology business lines and wider consulting businesses on a wide range of legal, risk and commercial issues.

The successful candidate would be based at KPMG’s offices in Reading reporting in to one of the senior members of the team. Travel to KPMG’s Canary Wharf offices in London will be required on an ad hoc basis.

The role


The successful applicant will be involved in the following:

- advising, drafting and negotiating system implementation agreements, software and subscription agreements and innovative agreements as part of KPMG’s fast growing technology related service lines;
- advising internal business stakeholders on commercial, risk and contractual issues within a complex, regulatory environment;
- providing ad hoc support on a variety of other contractual agreements including RFPs, engagement letters, master service agreements and other agreements;
- producing templates and guidance notes; and
- providing advice and training to business teams.

Requirements


The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

- at least 2-4 years PQE (post qualification experience);
- excellent knowledge of commercial and contract law with a particular focus on technology related contracts;
- experience advising on, drafting and negotiating range of technology and commercial contracts;
- successful track record of working within highly regulated environment is desirable; and
- strong commercial awareness and effective risk management skills.
