The Role

1. Summary of Role Purpose:

This is a Senior Manager position focusing on delivering campaign delivery to the highest standards. The individual will play a leadership role in the Marketing Centre of Expertise team and will oversee a team of marketing campaign professionals who are tasked with developing and deploying marketing programmes.

The Marketing Centre of Expertise (CoE) operates a matrix model of expertise in defined marketing capabilities and is organised in clusters aligned to our business units. The CoE leads on marketing delivery, supports brand management, digital enablement and also provides account management to support the Marketing Business Partners (BP).

Campaign delivery is at the core of our new operating model for marketing. Comprising of c30 marketing professionals in the UK and a further team of c8 in our offshore team, they will work to activate the marketing plans developed by the Marketing BPs in conjunction with our Programme Management team in the Marketing CoE.

The role will inspire excellence in the execution of these plans with strong people management, project delivery and creativity to ensure we can realise the potential of this significant team and unlock the potential for highly effective and efficient marketing delivery.

The individual will work closely with the leaders in Programme Management to plan resource requirements, match requirements to the skills and availability within campaign management and ensure the timely delivery of programmes.

2. Description of the role:
- Manage a significant team of marketing professionals including talent, performance management, training and development plans.
- Develop robust and improving operational processes to manage the planning, delivery and resource allocation of projects and to ensure effective workflow management.
- Improve marketing capabilities across the team, especially skills around digital marketing and channels, content development and co-ordination of big complex campaigns.
- Work closely with Programme Management to ensure projects are managed effectively, delivered to brief and budget is spent and reported appropriately.
- Facilitate effective collaboration between Campaign Delivery offshore and onshore teams, with the Marketing BPs and teams across the CoE and agency partners.
- Manage the performance management of agencies and effective liaison and exchange with internal teams including Create, the in-house design agency.

3. Role dimensions

3.1 Leadership & Management
- This role will report to the Head of Marketing Programmes & Delivery with reporting to the CMO as required.
- The individual will have responsibility for a team of c26 colleagues with 5 direct reports.

3.2 Stakeholder Interaction & challenges:
- The Senior Manager will be an inspirational team leader, with a high level of emotional intelligence.

You will be comfortable with running multiple projects at once, working across the CoE, BPs and the business to ensure strong delivery within timeframes, striking a balance between getting sufficiently involved with the detail to ensure high quality campaigns on the one hand, and maintaining a broad oversight across all campaigns to proactively identify issues.

You will be a strong team leader and people manager able to inspire and motivate a team to achieve their best and collaborate across a matrix structure in a complex environment. You will balance the need for creativity and innovation with structure and project management.

This balance must be achieved at all times, so you will be flexible and agile, able to act under pressure with grace and a sense of humour, with the ability to delegate and monitor appropriately.

You will need to display and maintain high levels of energy and drive in order to ensure projects are delivered in timely fashion with the maximum impact and good feedback to the business.

4. The Person

4.1 Experience
Core technical competencies:
- Strong understanding of marketing project management approaches including timeline development, cost management and resource planning.
- Ability to plan the development of marketing assets across content production, email marketing, digital, events, advertising and social.
- Deep people management experience, including performance management, recruitment and training
- Project management and operational process design.
- Stakeholder management across internal and firm wide contacts to resolve conflict and sell in the skills and capabilities of the campaign delivery and wider marketing team.
- Have the confidence and drive to challenge and influence people at all levels and maintain strong networks.
- The individual will have a deep knowledge of brand, and a strong understanding marketing and ideally the Professional Services industry.
- The role requires an ability to help drive effective change throughout a diverse organisation.
- Responsible for the spend reporting based on agreed budget.
- Responsible for ensuring that all aspects of compliance are adhered to (e.g approvals, reviews, content and brand guidelines) in alignment with risk management processes.
- Responsible for day-to-day management of the marketing agency roster including workload planning and agency performance feedback.

4.2 Expertise/ Technical role requirements:
- Professional marketing qualification (CIM) preferred
- Experience of B2B marketing and managing large teams essential.

4.3 Skills:
- Excellent understanding of new marketing approaches, tactics and campaigns, especially digital campaigns. Able to translate this into skills development for the campaign delivery team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of effective project and resource management.
- You will also be able to offer constructive commentary on some of the firm’s key Marketing programmes as viewed from the public domain and offer suggestions as to how you might drive a step change in how the firm and its stakeholders perceive the brand.
