Job DescriptionTax Valuation Manager

KPMG’s Tax Valuation Services (“TVS”) is a one of the fastest growing specialist teams within KPMG’s tax practice. We work with a broad spectrum of clients, from high net-worth individuals to large blue-chip corporates, in establishing the tax market value of shares, intangible assets and other business assets, using an array of valuation methodologies and techniques. Internally, the team works closely with KPMG’s Reward and Transfer Pricing teams, as well as providing support on M&A engagements.

To support the ambitious growth plans of the TVS team, KPMG are seeking to recruit two Manager level candidates - one for their London based team and one to be based in a regional office in the North (with some flexibility as to where this will be). The successful candidates will enjoy the potential for rapid personal development and will play a fundamental role in ensuring the success of the team’s ambitions. They will be exposed to a variety of complex and challenging valuation work across a broad range of industry sectors. An enthusiasm for understanding the commercial motivations of businesses is a must!

Responsibilities

- Working closely with the Director and Senior Managers, manage the entire lifecycle of valuation projects from business development to delivery.
- Carry out detailed business analysis to support valuation.
- Supervise the preparation of valuation reports and letters.
- Take responsibility for both internal and external client communication to ensure a streamlined approach to project execution.
- Develop internal and external networks to establish relationships and build business.
- Supervise valuation research, using data sources such as Companies House, Thompson One and especially Capital IQ as well as effectively using the offshore research team.
- Provide training and coaching to develop junior staff.

Experience and Background

Ideally, candidates should have:
- Experience in valuations of shares and other assets, ideally for UK tax purposes.
- Knowledge of valuation methodologies such as earnings multiples, DCF and option pricing models.
- IFRS 2 valuation experience is beneficial but not essential.

However, candidates with a basic understanding of valuation techniques, strong commercial awareness and enthusiasm to learn will also be considered.

Qualifications and Skills

- Relevant financial qualification, e.g. ACA, CTA, CFA (although candidate with sufficient relevant experience shall also be considered).
- Comfortable using MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytic and research skills, together with the commercial awareness to identify how businesses create value.
- Outstanding project management skills to work concurrently across multiple projects to deliver high quality work on time and in budget.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
