Overview

KPMG goes to market via two markets across the UK: National Markets and International Markets & Government. National Markets (NM), represents approximately £900m of sales and consists of priority key accounts across multiple industries, large private corporations, public sector and healthcare entities, and private equity.

KPMG’s NM teams are split into five areas; Scotland, North, Midlands, South and London Region.

Our market proposition is essentially issues-led as we seek to provide our clients with insight around major issues affecting their businesses and the support to solve them. The NM marketing team work closely with the business and functions (our solutions) to run demand-led campaigns aligned to client issues.

Marketing’s role in this proposition development is vital – instigating and managing end-to-end marketing programmes that begin with brand building around these issues in the media and digital space right through to developing content for relationship building in the boardroom which result in generating profitable revenue.

This is an exciting time to be working in NM with ambitious revenue growth plans and demand from the business for professional marketing that makes a difference at a firm, sector and account level.

Role summary

The Assistant Manager plays an important role both within the National Markets team and within the wider Marketing team, providing senior support to Managers and Senior Managers and acting as an interface between management and more junior team members.

The Assistant Manager has a number of management functions including developing project plans, project managing content production and leading events, and will ensure that senior managers are getting good feedback from the front line and in turn cascade best practice and ensure consistency in messaging throughout the organisation. You will have the ability to co-ordinate activities across multiple channels, programmes and activities.

The day-to-day functioning of the role, meanwhile, sees the Assistant Manager active in a wide range of marketing activities across both traditional and digital channels, using data analytics and business intelligence to monitor, assess and report on marketing effectiveness.

The ideal individual for this role will be energetic and highly-organised, interesting in digital and campaign marketing and delivering results - someone who enjoys taking on responsibility and making a positive contribution to the activities of the Marketing team.

You will be highly-professional, able to work within budget to the exacting standards required in a leading professional services environment.

You will understand the importance of good relationships both within and outside the organisation, using your influencing and negotiating skills to ensure that relationships with third parties work to the best advantage of KPMG, and to promote harmony, understanding and positive contribution internally.

Key functional aims of this role


- Developing and building on the existing strategic marketing plan
- Delivery of marketing programmes and campaigns to support marketing and business objectives.
- Ensuring the right individuals are being targeted by our campaigns and that best practice is being adhered to.
- Working with other members of the marketing team to ensure programmes are joined up, sponsored and delivered on budget in line with firm strategy, their success measured and monitored
- Build trusted relationships and work closely with BD teams
- Supporting the delivery of high quality management information (including ROI) on the performance of marketing activities and programmes
- Being a brand ambassador and ensuring that all campaigns adhere to the necessary brand and risk guidelines.
- Managing the facets of our online properties, including Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
- Articulating and producing service propositions and case study material.
- Managing ad-hoc marketing requests (video production/design e-invites/web updates
- Organising various events and conferences – producing and coordinating e-vites, venue sourcing, liaising with suppliers and speakers.

Reports and Accountability

This role will report to the Head of Marketing in the North region.

You will be expected to work largely autonomously within the firm’s overall strategic priorities. You will be expected to work autonomously within the firm’s overall marketing priorities. You will work with colleagues across the function to ensure successful collaboration and delivery of campaigns through our core market channels.

Candidate requirements

- BA university degree or equivalent
- Professional marketing qualification (CIM) preferred
- An interest and experience in digital marketing is essential
- Experience working in the marketing function of a large business organisation
- Previous experience of marketing in a professional services organisation is highly desirable
- Demonstrable experience in all key functional areas (see above – Key functional aims)
- Highly creative and innovative with a strong grasp on existing and emerging digital technologies
- Highly proficient in all MS Office packages (including PowerPoint) and knowledge of CRM systems
