Our IRI team are looking to expand with the appointment of a Tax Assistant Manager. The roles sits in our Corporates performance group and works with the national IRI practice team.

Roles and Responsibilities

This Assistant Manager level role is for a CTA qualified tax specialist to work with the team to accelerate the growth of our Corporate clients business. You will be required to use your knowledge and experience to help our clients in making Patent box and R&D Tax relief claims. Work with the engagement team to confirm Patent Box qualification, develop claim methodologies and prepare Patent Box (and R&D tax relief) claims for submission to HMRC
Support the engagement team with overall client engagement and working with HMRC specialists to facilitate the agreement of Patent Box (and R&D) claims
Prepare tax technical advice and advise client tax/finance/legal staff on the application of the Patent Box (and R&D) legislation and extract the financial information to prepare the claims
Work with the KPMG technical specialists to ensure that eligible R&D tax expenditure and Patent Box profit is correctly identified
Work with KPMG tax specialists from e.g. transfer pricing, value chain management and legal to ensure clients’ approach to innovation incentives is aligned with their innovation strategies and operating models
Support engagement managers to manage team, budgets, finances and risks
Build an internal network within the wider tax practice of the firm
Help to establish and maintain strong client relationships with both existing and new clients
Support business development opportunities and to pitch for work with both new and existing clients

Qualifications and Skills

CTA / ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
Prior Corporate Tax experience
Possess working knowledge of the Patent Box & R&D legislation and experience preparing Patent Box and R&D calculations.

Must be capable of producing documentation to a high level of quality for submission to HMRC
Show strong people skills and in particular the ability to work with senior staff within a business
Demonstrate excellent communication/written skills
Strong project management skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to manage and prioritise own workload
Team player
