Senior Manager Content Role

Overall purpose of role

The role holder will lead the development and creation of strategic content that helps to bring KPMG’s mission to life. They will be responsible for working with the firm’s leadership to tell a consistent and compelling story about who KPMG is and what the firm stands for across a range of channels.

They will be expected to bring innovation and best practice to the content KPMG produces and how that content is used across different channels. This person will be a senior member of the Strategic Communications team and will be expected to build comprehensive stakeholder networks both inside and outside of the business, be confident influencing at senior levels of the firm and be a strong team-player who is able to collaborate with colleagues from across the Corporate Affairs team to produce great content and drive consistency in our messaging.

Key Accountabilities

Corporate narrative
- Responsible for developing and evolving KPMG’s corporate narrative to align with the firm’s business objectives and ensuring messaging is consistent across all KPMG channels
- Work with leadership to create a strong internal and external voice that brings our narrative and mission to life across a range of channels
- Produce strategically-driven content for Chairman and senior partners, and work closely with the Head of Planning to create an editorial calendar for the firm’s leadership
- Lead speechwriter for Chairman and senior partners. Responsible for generating original ideas for speeches, identifying platforms and developing a strategic plan for public engagements to support the delivery of KPMG’s business objectives
- Work with colleagues across Corporate Affairs to embed the corporate narrative
- Provide strategic advice to leaders on how they can develop their business narrative and produce content to support the firm’s broader business objectives and mission
- Spot opportunities to amplify KPMG’s voice on the issues that matter

Content creation
- Set an ambitious agenda for content creation at KPMG that supports the firm’s strategic objectives
- Must be confident producing content across a range of channels for different audience groups
- Consistently share best practice in corporate content from inside and outside our sector. Be ready to spot opportunities to put new ideas into action fast and see them through to completion
- Working with others across the firm, lead on the content delivery for key KPMG Corporate Communications projects and events, for example the Annual Review and Annual Partner Conference, ensuring that all communications support KPMG’s corporate narrative and vision
- Strong awareness of the external news agenda and risks to KPMG’s reputation

- Able to influence and act as a convenor to plan, develop and amplify content in support of the firm’s mission
- Working with colleagues from across the business, identify opportunities to enhance KPMG’s voice and presence on social media channels
- Identify pertinent issues for KPMG to take a position on – and then prosecute a campaign that positions the business as a genuine thought leader.
- Provide strategic direction on projects, research and thought leadership that support KPMG’s mission – clearly demonstrating how the firm supports the UK through its work and how it runs its business

Leadership and development:
- Carry out line management, performance/talent management (including succession planning) and personal development of team members, including all direct reports in line with internal processes and the strategic direction of the team.
- Work with Human Resources and other team leaders to establish training and development initiatives for the team.
- Work with Director to develop a better understanding of the business divisions and their priorities to tie in with team initiatives. Ensure that all colleagues are clear in decision-making and execution responsibilities.
- Work with Director to develop consistent and rigorous standards for measuring success and share these outcomes with the team.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to help create a highly effective function, demonstrating ‘one team’ behaviours and fostering a positive working environment.
- Provide exceptional stakeholder support that builds trust in the working relationship, confidence in our expertise, and a positive reputation for the wider function.
