Job Description

Within KPMG’s Technology Consulting business, we leverage technology to help achieve clients' business strategy and help deliver sustainable business benefits.

In our Financial Services Technology Enablement practice we help our Banking (retail, corporate and investment banking) & Insurance clients to build and manage large–scale, multi–country, complex, technology–enabled business transformation programmes. We drive this transformation through the adoption of Cloud based technologies and have strategic relationships with Amazon, Google, Microsoft and IBM to name a few.

Role and Responsibilities
- Gathering and refining requirements with client stakeholders to help define the solution design
- Writing code in object oriented languages (C#, Java, Python) to build new or existing systems that match the client’s needs
- implementing BDD/TDD approaches, locating the cause of any defects in the solution to fix them
- Mentoring junior members of the team, reviewing work to maintain high level of code quality
- Reviewing current systems
- Presenting ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals
- Working closely with analysts, designers and staff
- Producing detailed specifications and writing the program codes
- Testing the product in controlled, real situations before going live
- Preparation of training manuals for users
- Maintaining the systems once they are up and running

The skills, qualifications and experience required for the job:
- Proven experience of object oriented language (C#, Java, Python)
- Proven experience of using containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Proven experience with RESTful APIs and microservices best practice
- Proven experience of CI/CD (Jenkins/TeamCity, Terraform, Octopus)
- Proven experience of ORMs (Entity Framework, Hibernate)
- Proven experience in an Agile and XP methodologies (Scrum, pair-programming)
- Proven experience of utilising SOLID code design practices and conducted design and code reviews
- Proven experience applying BDD/TDD approaches
- Proven experience of applied secure software development principles in line with standard Information Security frameworks

Desirable experience and skills
- Solution development and delivery into at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Advanced ANSI SQL scripting capability (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server)
- Experience with NoSQL solutions (AWS DynamoDB, Azure Cosmos DB, CouchDB, Cassandra, Redis)
- Experience of integration with logging/monitoring tools (CloudWatch, DataDog, LogStash, StackDriver Monitoring, AppInsights, New Relic, Raygun.io)
- Utilised source control (git)
- Knowledge of test automation frameworks
- Knowledge and understanding of blue/green deployment and A/B testing
- Knowledge of event based architectures
- Knowledge of Data Warehouses, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence
