You will be joining the IT Project & Programme Management (IT-PPM) team to work as a project manager here at KPMG. We work closely with our financial services clients to shape and lead technology-enabled business change engagements, typically motivated by regulatory transformation, bringing new products and services to market, realising operational efficiencies, architectural renewal etc. We work with clients to maximise business benefits and optimise delivery. This means shaping projects and programmes and then delivering them through the full business change lifecycle using the best-fit approach, e.g. scaled agile, scrum, waterfall etc., or a hybrid version. We ensure key stakeholders are engaged in designing, delivering and adopting changes and that they retain accountability to maximize lasting benefits over the long term.

As an IT focused project manager, you will be joining a collaborative and energetic team that shares project delivery knowledge and experiences and pushes forward thinking on the evolution of project management. Our team covers a broad range of functional and technical domains and you will have the opportunityto grow your skill set and experience across a variety of these.

We are looking for a proactive individual with a proven track record of successful project / programme delivery - specifically within Financial Services- who is motivated by delivering successful engagements with clients, has a thirst to learn more, is excited to contribute to growing our team, and is keen to contribute to business development.

As this is a Senior Manager level consulting role, your main responsibilities will be to:

- Shape and lead teams to successfully deliver change projects involving significant technology, data and business transformation within Financial Services environments- retail, commercial and investment banks
- Manage multi-faceted technology-enabled projects / programmes, co-ordinating tasks and activities, managing to deadlines, anticipating challenges, difficulties and pressure points
- Identify and mitigate delivery risks, as well as leading the resolution of issues / blockers
- Work effectively with a range of stakeholders across business, technology and data teams in large banking organisations.
- Understand options for project / programme delivery structures and governance models
- Manage scope within solution requirements and design, and appropriate establish change control
- Assess ongoing projects and programmes to identify opportunities for improvement and ways to mitigate delivery risk
- Manage project costs, including the establishment of baseline costs and tracking, and contingency planning
- Build lasting client relationships with client stakeholders, actively building a network and range of experience to help address client needs
- Build constructive working relationships within KPMG and the industry across different teams, functions and countries at all levels
- Support or lead engagements, working with subject matter experts and project teams
- Support the growth of the practice through internal initiatives and support winning new business, e.g. through networking and developing bid responses

Your Experience

- To excel in this role, you must be an accomplished project manager able to manoeuvre the core delivery levers of scope, time, budget, quality and risk to create and maintain the optimum delivery mix. You will have a fundamental understanding of governance, scoping, planning, project finances, quality, resourcing, risk and issue management, and communications.
- You will be expected to have delivered significant, full life cycle technology enabled projects within complex Finance Services organisations.
- You will have significant knowledge of the Systems development lifecycle for waterfall and agile projects
- You will have managed through the complete business change lifecycle from feasibility through to project definition, mobilisation, development (analyse / design / build / test activities), and then on to transition.
- You will not only be comfortable operating at big picture level but also capable of diving into the technology detail when needed. You will have good technology skills and are likely to have been through formal technology delivery training, e.g. with a bank, consulting firm or technology organisation.
- Through delivering projects you will have gained significant business domain knowledge in several specific areas of banking / capital markets. E.g. front-to-back understanding of retail or investment banking business processes, detailed understanding of retail banking products or at least one investment banking asset class, familiarity with several tier 1 banking organisations specifically gained through delivery of business-led technology projects.
- You will be able to lead credible conversations with clients by demonstrating insight into the financial services industry, including trends, challenges, market conventions and priorities.
