Job Description

Context

The firms approach to Corporate Responsibility has undergone a strategic review. The new role will play an important part of supporting how the firm positions itself to the “most trusted firm” as well as contributing to the wider corporate affairs strategy. This will deliver a more proactive approach to employee engagement and key CR programmes whilst contributing to the overall business strategy. The senior manager will report into the Director of Corporate Responsibility

Relevant Experience

This role will require the individual to work closely with the Head of Corporate Responsibility to support the Deputy Chair and senior members of the UK leadership team including the Executive Committee (ExCo) and partners to deliver corporate responsibility programmes which are aligned to the vision and business strategy. The role requires a self-motivated individual who is able to build relationships across all levels at KPMG. In particular, the successful candidate will have;

- A proven track record in Corporate Responsibility within a large corporate, ideally a bank or similar financial institution.
- Extensive experience of dealing with senior stakeholders. Extensive external contacts and strategic relationships with key organisations
- Proven track record of strategy development and delivery and ability to look at short and long term approaches and manage and mitigate risk
- Management of large projects, campaigns, charity relationships and ability to attain support and buy in from complex stakeholder group
- Ability to creatively think, identify key issues and provide sound strategic judgement on complex and sensitive issues.
- Ability to inspire confidence at all levels and provide compelling and well thought out solutions to complex problems.
- Strong team leadership and ability to deliver a compelling message to inspire and motivate through change and uncertainty
- Comfort with complex data and information
- Strong employee engagement skills and above all a commitment to excellent delivery.

Responsibilities


- Work with the CR Director to support KPMG’s leadership team to develop and deliver a Corporate Responsibility programmes which aligns and supports the firms strategy.
- Lead stakeholder consultation with senior internal stakeholders and external stakeholders to galvanise support for new strategy - act as an ambassador for KPMG internally and externally
- Lead on delivery of key CR flagship projects supporting numeracy and literacy and support director
- Management of ad hoc business requests on CR and manage any associated risks and opportunities
- Lead on CR integration and client support in KPMG
- Lead on regional engagement with KPMG offices and enhance CR forums
- Lead on delivery of CR flagship campaigns
- Oversight and management of key reporting initiatives, the CR external assurance process and CR elements of the annual report. Lead on project to offshore management of data
- Lead on development and monitoring process for CR KPI’s and impact reporting
- Monitor identify and leverage business development and reputational enhancement opportunities arising from corporate responsibility activities
- Support team through transition period to deliver new strategy. Identify key risks and opportunities facing the CR team and support the team with decision making.
- Oversight and management of KPMG CR budget.

The Individual

- Degree qualified in relevant discipline; ideally to include an CR element
- Good business acumen and sound professional judgement.
- Ability to combine strategic thinking with a demonstrable track record in successful implementation.
- Evidence of commercial and common sense approach to problem solving and ability to develop strategic solutions to a problem.
- Ability to make sound judgments and decisions without being an expert in an area
- Ability to cope with multiple demands and prioritise effectively demonstrating outstanding organisational skills. Provide thoughts and ideas on how to innovate on current processes
- Ability to summarise key issues from various sources of data
- Ability to build constructive relationships internally and externally and manage sensitive or difficult messages
- Ability to bring, build and maintain excellent working relationships with key senior stakeholders
- Ability manage high and low performance. Able to effectively support junior team members in their development.
- Ability to lead the team through period of change to maintain motivation and commitment to delivery and inspire at all levels
- Experience of CR issues, good understanding of corporate responsibility thought leadership and the changing CR trends and policies that will affect KPMG including wider business and societal issues
- Ability to escalate issues when required in a timely manner.
- Experience of preparing information for annual report and internal reporting systems
- Demonstrates an enthusiastic manner in dealing with a cross section of people.
- Adheres to the firm’s values and brand attributes and lives these to the full.
- Demonstrates energy, commitment and has the ability to work under pressure and to
hanging priorities and tight deadlines. Able to balance a varied workload.
- A sound understanding of KPMG’s business lines and link CR opportunities, or the ability to
rapidly acquire it.
- Ability to generate and embed creative ideas that add value. maintain a sense of humour and perspective
- Willingness to travel in the UK.
