Forensic - Using specialist accounting, investigation and business skills in assisting clients involved in commercial or regulatory disputes or in the investigation of fraud and impropriety. Working in the team will mean getting involved in a broad range of projects, i.e. Fraud investigations, and tracing assets.

Job Description
The Team


The Data Insight Services team sits within KPMG Risk Consulting Technology function and is a facility that brings together analytics specialists, hardware and software to provide a unique facility that allows customers to commission one-off pieces of analytics work, proofs of concept or ongoing data oriented managed services. It represents a critical component to KPMG's growth strategy and is where much of the innovative early thinking takes place on fraud detection and other data driven projects.

The successful candidate will perform a client delivery focused role, which typically involves the management, manipulation and analysis of data and transformations using innovative techniques to extract the necessary intelligence from related data assets. The candidate will be involved in a wide range of regulatory investigation type projects with a particular focus on the support of investigative and remediation activities to help regulators in conducting these reviews, and working with clients to prepare them for their response to these questions.

The work is highly varied, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to enhance and take their skills to the next level by gaining strong consulting and business experience whilst developing their ability to manage work streams, projects and budgets.

The Role

Responsibilities:

- Accountable for the delivery of high quality analytical work for both self and/or junior members of the team;
- Whilst on client engagement ensuring teams are adequately able to carry out both reactive and proactive data analysis of large volume of data, structured and unstructured, utilising a wide range of database management systems, reporting systems and visualisation software
- Capture client requirements, write Functional Specifications Documents to articulate business requirements, as well as write technical specifications for development team;
- Organises and schedules own projects and teams workload to ensure effective delivery of engagement;
- Pro-actively driving forward new and creative ideas and analytical solutions which benefit the client;
- Coaching and mentoring more junior team members both on and off engagements;
- Building relationships and managing client stakeholder/relationships on projects;
- Developing internal networks and maintaining relationships with colleagues across other teams within KPMG;
- Taking a proactive lead for knowledge management within a specialist team; and
- Leveraging your skills and experience to support the development of proposals and marketing propositions.

The Person

Qualifications and Skills:

- Be a qualified accountant or at finalist stage (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with strong technical accounting experience;
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identifying patterns within data to generate business insight;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing skills;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical analysis to a non-technical audience;

Experience and Background:

- Experience of working in a fast-paced analytics environment preferably in professional services, banking or insurance;
- Proven experience in the life cycle of investigative and remediation type projects including root cause analysis, strategy design, building financial calculators and developing operational processes; and
- Tenacious problem solving attitude, particularly when helping Clients obtain the data required.
- Proven experience in understanding business problems and being able to evaluate the results of your work in a business context;
- Proven experience with the following data manipulation software: SAS, Teradata SQL (Oracle/SQL Server);
- Strong data manipulation skills - manipulating and clean large data tables to ensure that data meets standards and objectives;
- Experience of leading and delivering analytical projects for external clients;
- Reporting experience using data visualisation tools (e.g. Microsoft SSRS, Tableau, Qlikview);
- Knowledge of statistical techniques and analysis (such as regression, clustering, sampling, social network analysis); and
- Any accounting (especially audit) experience ERP systems knowledge e.g. SAP, JDEdwards and Ora
