Job Description
KPMG Audit University Project Manager – AQTP team within ACE – 2 year Fixed Term Contract

Audit Quality is of utmost priority to the Firm. In 2018, the KPMG UK Firm invested in a three day residential event - the KPMG Audit University (KAU) which was to provide Audit refresher training for all auditors of Grade E3 to Partners (around 2,300 people). It was held 12 times across the UK. The KAU will now become a Business As Usual learning programme with a dedicated team to manage it.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager for the KAU. The individual would work in the Audit Quality Transformation Project team which is part of the Audit Centre of Excellence (ACE).

The individual will project manage the KAU in its entirety and will work with a variety of teams and people across ACE, UK Learning, Learning Deployment Operations and the Audit business. From a delivery excellence perspective the individual will provide the tools and capabilities to support the delivery of the project as well as provide project support and analysis of data to support management decision making and communication.

The individual will provide ad-hoc quality assurance and health-checks to ensure work is being carried out in accordance with agreed objectives and undertake various levels of reporting to ensure the various teams are achieving the stated objectives.

The individual will need to be able to respond to changing priorities and be able to respond to changes in business needs in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities include:

- Setting a project plan and ensuring all key contributors work towards the project plan to ensure that KAU runs smoothly and successfully. The individual will work closely with the following:
- KAU Senior Manager to determine on-going priorities
- AQTP lead to provide progress updates on key milestones
- Content developers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), UK Learning reviewers and AQTP reviewers to ensure the content development keeps on track with the project plan
- CREATE to ensure the materials have a consistent look and feel and are compliant with KPMG branding rules and regulations
- Third party suppliers i.e. Venues, Events company, App provider, External trainers (if applicable)
- Programme Manager (UK Learning) who will be responsible for the technical content
- Deployment team who will be responsible for the resourcing of facilitators and support teams, venue management, material production and day to day logistics of the events
- Developing strong, trusting and credible working relationships with all involved in the KAU and with other key business stakeholders where applicable
- Establishing a prioritisation model that determines the value and importance of all new and existing work items and places them in an ordered list.
- Identify and track interdependencies between key pieces of work
- Identification of key risk and issues impacting the overall project, recommend corrective action and track/report on status.
- Development and delivery of required executive reporting at various levels.
- Implement relevant systems and tools to support the delivery of work for the project.
- Provide and organise quality assurance reviews and health checks to ensure work is being undertaken to a sufficiently high standard.
- Maintaining and updating the budget throughout the financial year and provide actual/forecast data to support management decision making.
- Setting project timelines and tracking the team’s progress against those goals.
- Organising initiatives to keep team engagement high throughout the project.
- Overseeing and drafting/ liaison with communications experts on all the communications required for the KAU project

Essential requirements:

- Capable of working positively with people and developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Demonstrates credibility within the project delivery environment and ability to influence others.
- Clear knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, data analysis, reporting etc., including risk management.
- Able to create effective business plans and business cases.
- Experience of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
- Demonstrates an aptitude to find innovative ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
- Driven and enthusiastic with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a strong sense of ownership to get the job done in a practical and pragmatic fashion without upsetting others.
- Fluent written and oral English communications skills and strong interpersonal skills that can be executed credibly to inspire confidence in you and the delivery of the project.
- Capable problem solver with a pragmatic and tenacious attitude to seek out resolutions.
- Experience of working in a Professional Services environment would be advantageous.
- Demonstrable PMO expertise with experience of having set-up and evolved PMO capabilities are desirable as well as the ability to maintain a high quality BAU service.
- Negotiates effectively by emphasising potential benefits of a suggested approach.
- Provides compelling and well thought out solutions to problems.
- Provides persuasive and self-assured responses in a credible manner.
- Demonstrates perseverance and tenacity in the face of setbacks.
- Considers both client and financial implications when making difficult decisions and builds contingency plans.
- Degree level in a business related subject or equivalent.

Desirable

- Experience of various project and programme management approaches, specifically Prince2 and PMBoK
- Recognised professional accreditation in Project Management
- Experience in using Microsoft Project
