Job Description
The Role

As a principal architect and senior manager, you will be responsible for leading work streams and project teams, and providing data analytics expertise to help grow our IGH offerings across the UK. You will contribute to the successful delivery of data and analytics services across Local Authorities, Government, and Health sector clients. You will help to build data analytics, cloud service offerings and cloud based data analytics solutions and assets to take them to market, and undertake business development activities such as building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, proposal writing and contributing to the development of KPMG’s services through knowledge management and methodology design. You will contribute to the development of our cloud based asset and upskilling our people in cloud technologies especially Microsoft Azure and Power BI.

This exciting role will fully utilise the candidates programming, data analysis and data management skills. Strong technical skills are essential, as candidates will be expected to design and develop solutions either individually or as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team. Programmatic knowledge of at least one public sector domain such as Policing, Adult Social Care, or Children’s Services is critical.

The Team

We provide services to a range of UK Public Sector clients including those in Central and Local Government, Health and Education. We are often required to provide information sharing and analytics assistance and assurance support to other teams within KPMG especially as it relates to cross programme information sharing. Our clients in the Public Sector are facing significant challenges and are turning to technology solutions to assist. They are constantly being asked to do more for less. Our services are of both an assurance and advisory nature.

The Person

Core Technical Skills

- Over 5 years of professional analytics work experience in architecture design and development of data analytics solutions.
- Hands-on technical capability: willingness and ability to “roll sleeves up” when required on projects. Understanding a variety of technologies and techniques so that the optimal solution can be determined for each project / task; including:
- Data analysis, manipulation, querying and profiling;
- Experience of leading and delivering analytical projects for internal or external clients, including the experience of leading and managing teams;
- Reporting using data visualisation tools (e.g. Microsoft SSRS, Tableau, Qlikview, Power BI etc);
- Knowledge of data aggregation and analytics tools (e.g. Alteryx, SQL Server Integration Services)
- Knowledge of database technologies (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle)
- Exceptional working knowledge of Microsoft BI technology stack, including SQL Server, SQL SSIS, MS Power Query, MS Power Pivot, MS Power BI.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Power BI and data visualisation best practice.
- A passion and commitment to developing their technical knowledge in a changing environment and the willingness to share and develop this in others.
- Experience of taking a lead role within a team that has delivered solutions to healthcare.
- Experience in migrating on premise workloads to the cloud Experience in architecting and developing cloud based solution using Microsoft Azure.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify patterns within data to generate business insight;
- Demonstrable data visualisation experience and skills are essential along with experience designing outcome, benchmarking, and performance models that can later be measured with data.
- Understanding and appreciation of Data Management activities around Data Governance, Master Data Management, and Data Integration.

Core Programmatic Skills

- Established as a subject matter expert in Adult Services, Policing, Children’s Services or other public sector programme(s), particularly as this relates to policy, analytics, information sharing and governance
- Proven experience of successfully delivering data, analytics, policy and/or information governance services involving expertise relating to public sector programmes provided in the local authority, policing, and/or government sectors, including experience in at least 3 of the following areas:
- Policy and/or programme analysis relating to the quality and development of adult services
- Designing and implementing analytics, dashboards and/or outcome models for adult services on behalf of government and the public sector
- Delivering business analysis and understanding of core business processes for adult services and other areas of the public and healthcare sectors
- Reviewing and assuring projects related to adults, particularly where these involve an element of using data to understand and improve services, or where health and social care integration is being pursued
- Experience with outcome modelling and data visualisation are significant differentiators. Experience with dashboard design is desirable

Consulting Skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing skills and the ability to explain complex technical analysis to a non-technical audience;
- Building relationships – individuals will be required to build and sustain relationships with clients and internally within KPMG;
- Project delivery: from initial client consultation to presentation of results, you would be responsible for the delivery of client facing projects including: Overseeing the solution design and architecture, managing a KPMG team of various sizes and abilities, being the main day to day point of contact for senior client contacts, and taking ownership and responsibility for seeing the project through to its completion;
- Delivering quality services: Individuals will be required to monitor and deliver high quality service to clients (both internal and external). Individuals will be proficient at managing multiple priorities;
- Engagement Management: individuals will be required to lead multiple large, complex work streams in rapidly changing environments, which includes managing project budgets, resource allocation, WIP management and billing and delivering to the requirements;
- Risk management: individuals will be required to identify and manage risks, ensuring the Firm's risk management frameworks are implemented appropriately and effectively;
- Taking a proactive lead for knowledge management and sharing within a specialist team;
- Developing people: individuals will need to demonstrate the ability to give clear directions, as well as positive and constructive feedback. They will coach less experienced staff and actively assist in the development of others;
- Team management: Helping the leadership to manage resource allocation, training, performance management and financial performance of the team;
- A desire to understand business problems and to evaluate the results of your work in a business context;
- High degree of personal motivation, ability to self-manage whilst being professional and personable;
- Strong presentation skills and experience in leading presentations and workshops on technical design, data analytics and business intelligence is essential.
