Job Description
KPMG goes to market via three market coverage groups across the UK; Financial Services, Corporates and National Markets and delivers services and solutions across four key capabilities: Audit, Tax, Consulting and Deal Advisory. Our operating model is capability managed and coverage informed.

Marketing’s role in this proposition is vital – instigating and managing end-to-end marketing programmes, deploying premium content to build the firm’s brand reputation in the wider market and building relationships with clients at boardroom level which result in profitable revenue.

Role summary

The Marketing Manager will be responsible for taking ownership of, and reshaping where necessary, various flagship end-to-end marketing programmes and proposition development within Capabilities marketing.

A key member of the Capabilities Marketing team, the individual will work closely with the business and ensure strong integration with the wider UK Marketing programmes to develop and deliver against the firm’s marketing objectives through a range of traditional and digital marketing channels.


Above all, the Marketing Manager will be a highly-organised and energetic individual, capable of guiding programmes towards delivery on time and within budget, taking care to monitor, evaluate and report on the success of every programme under the principle of continuous improvement.

Capabilities marketing, by its very nature, offers great opportunities for creative, cutting edge work, so you will be nimble of mind, with good written and visual communication skills, capable of translating partners’ vision into effective programmes which set standards for the business.

As an integral member of the Marketing team, you will be highly sensitive to the need to achieve brand consistency for the firm, and as such be able to work closely and intuitively with other Marketing Managers, both within Capabilities and within the wider UK Marketing team, and other individuals within KPMG to achieve this aim.

You will understand the importance of good relationships both within and outside the organisation, using your influencing and negotiating skills to ensure that relationships with third parties work to the best advantage of KPMG, and to promote harmony, understanding and positive contribution internally.

Key functional aims of this role

• Creating innovative end-to-end marketing programmes to support partner activity including developing cutting edge research, market-leading content and original business events
- Content development – ensuring marcomms toolkit is fully leveraged
- Proposition development – developing compelling and commercially effective client propositions
- Content production – developing and delivering on-budget project plans, project managing production process with external and internal agencies
- Providing high quality management information (including ROI) on the performance of marketing activities and programmes
- Researching and analysing the latest market, competitor and client data
- Programme management – contributing to planning and budgeting process, monitoring material available for end-to-end programmes
- Working with colleagues in IM&G and National Markets to determine client needs in the market and aligning propositions and campaigns to these
- Working closely with other members of the marketing team to ensure all programmes are joined up, sponsored and delivered on budget in line with firm strategy, their success measured and monitored
- Managing risk approval process, developing and cascading best practice
- Deep understanding of KPMG brand values and their expression in every programme

Reports and Accountability

This role will report to a Senior Marketing Manager within the Capabilities Marketing team. It may involve line management responsibility for a marketing executive or assistant marketing manager within the capabilities team.

You will also work with colleagues across the function as relevant. This will include working closely with the campaign management team within capabilities marketing – where larger projects within your programmes may be resourced. Your collaborative working style across the marketing team will ensure successful collaboration and delivery of campaigns through our core market channels.

Core technical competencies

You will have a strong appreciation of brand management and proposition development, ensuring marketing collateral is fully brand-compliant, embedding brand in all activities and developing and maintaining compelling value propositions

You will develop on-budget end-to-end marketing programmes, engaging with the business to ensure smooth planning, consummate execution and accurate measurement of programmes.

You will display excellence in marcomms, setting tactical plans and tailoring content for specific channels. You will act as a champion for marcomms, educating junior marketing team members as to its importance.

You will have a strong grasp of analysis, including business financials and the ability to develop a strong knowledge of the Consulting industry.

You will liaise with colleagues across the marketing team to co-ordinate activity in key markets.

You will be an intuitive teamplayer with a diverse approach who enjoys using their practical coaching mindset to develop junior members of the marketing team.

You will be a strong communicator, able to listen, analyse and present complex concepts to a variety of audiences, both verbally and through clear and descriptive written work.

You will take personal responsibility for making tough decisions, acting quickly to diffuse or prevent conflicts and able to share resources and information to create teamwork across functional boundaries.

You will be a good influencer and leader, good at engaging with stakeholders so that the value of marketing is understood, in the process developing lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with key KPMG and external stakeholders.

Candidate requirements

- A proven track record within Marketing at Manager level
- BA university degree or equivalent
- Professional marketing qualification (CIM) an advantage
- Strong communication skills, with a proven track record of implementing and delivering on transformation programmes, ideally in Marketing or related areas
- Good experience of working across complex or matrixed organisations
- Demonstrable experience in all key functional areas (see above – Key functional aims)
- Must be able to respond to all Core Technical and Behavioural Competencies (detailed above)
- Highly proficient in all MS Office packages (including PowerPoint) and knowledge of CRM systems
