The Team


The Portfolio Solutions Group (PSG) is an integral part of Deal Advisory, specialising in providing lead advisory services to sellers (typically banks) and buyers (typically private equity (PE) and debt funds) of loan portfolios and loan servicing platforms. PSG is a recognised market leader having advised on hundreds of performing and non-performing loan portfolio mandates around the world.

For our sell-side clients, PSG provides a broad range of services, including “keep versus sell” options analysis, asset valuation and lead M&A advisory covering the spectrum of non-core and non-performing banking assets. For buyers, PSG assists clients in sourcing opportunities, performing asset due diligence, loan portfolio valuation and structuring advice.

PSG is currently experiencing a considerable period of growth in EMEA, led by activity in the UK, whilst continuing to expand its offering in non-domestic markets, such as France, Italy, CEE, Greece and Cyprus. PSG is therefore a key contributor to the Deal Advisory growth agenda and a focus of KPMG senior management in the Banking sector.

The Role


The sell-side part of the role will typically support the delivery of a range of projects for bank vendors, who are seeking to assess, enable and execute sales of loan portfolios, single credit exposures or banking platforms, through:

- Performing core project management activities and team leading:
- Co-ordinating cross-border KPMG teams and client advisors;
- Preparing and reviewing M&A marketing materials (e.g. Teasers, IMs);
- Reviewing loan portfolio data tapes;
- Co-ordinating investors and communications; and
- Preparing client presentations and reports.
Additionally, you may be responsible for supporting the preparation of client proposals, supporting senior team members in managing relationships with key sell-side clients.

The buy-side part of the role will typically support the day-to-day delivery of a range of projects for PE and investment bank clients, who are seeking to acquire loan portfolios, single credit exposures or banking platforms, through:

- Performing core project management activities and team leading;
- Performing and co-ordinating asset due diligence activities (e.g. assessing likely recovery levels and credit performance);
- Performing and co-ordinating portfolio review and segmentation analysis;
- Co-ordinating valuation and cash flow modelling activities; and
- Co-ordinating other associated work streams (e.g. legal, tax, regulatory)
Additionally, you may be responsible for assisting senior team members in managing relationships with key buy-side clients as well as developing sector/market/asset class specific expertise.

The Person


The role requires all of the following experience:
- Extensive loan portfolio sales project management experience in Banking or Big Four sectors
- Extensive loan portfolio buy project management experience in Banking or Big Four sectors
- Extensive transaction execution experience in Banking or big Four sectors.
- Extensive stakeholder management experience in Banking or Big Four sectors
- Extensive experience in capital markets (debt or equity)
- Merger & Acquisition experience
- Completed or working towards a CFA qualification
