The Integration & Separation Advisory Team

KPMG's Ops&Supply Integration & Separation Advisory Team is a growing and dynamic team. We work with both vendors and acquirers on mergers, acquisitions, divestments, exits and joint ventures, both pre and post-deal.

The team offers four key proposition areas:
- Separation: Supporting vendors to plan and deliver a credible, discrete standalone entity to the Buyer with value preserved and business continuity in place from Day 1, including supporting the definition and implementation of transitional service agreements.
- Integration: Pre and post deal integration design, planning and implementation to integrate the target business into the Buyer’s organisation whilst mitigating risk and enhancing value.
- Synergies: Understanding the potential benefits and costs generated through a proposed transaction, and the associated plans, interdependencies, risks and issues for the delivery of base and stretch case targets.
- Joint Ventures: Helping respective partners ensure the key value considerations are identified and prioritised early and delivered through the associated business plan, leveraging each party’s specific contribution and capabilities and managing broader stakeholder relationships.Role Overview

Description of the role:

You will gain exposure to the high pressure, fast-paced world of transactions through delivering specialist operational support. Your role on a project will include:

• Assisting Operations, Supply Chain and Procurement stakeholders on the buy-side or sell-side to plan and execute changes in the organisation as required by the transaction. This will be across the deal cycle from pre-deal to post-deal phases of the transaction
• Working across a variety of industry sectors and locations with clients of varying size and complexity. We also work with other advisory firms (banks, law firms, technology companies, and other accounting firms) on deals, as required, which depends on the nature and scope of the engagement.
• Providing day to day support to project office activities.
• Supporting Operations and Supply Chain workstream activity to fulfil the workstream objectives.
• Ownership and maintenance of engagement financials.
• Contributing to content for sections of reports/deliverables and sales materials.
• When not working on a project, providing support in preparation of proposal materials and other business or practice development activities.
• A willingness to travel as we mainly work from client sites and have a global portfolio of clients. The length of a project can be anywhere from one week to one year, although a typical project will last a few weeks and we would aim to give you as diverse an experience as possible.

Candidates will be expected to have as a minimum the following skills and experience:
• Professional Services experience with a relevant qualification preferred (degree, CIMA, MBA or equivalent).
• Background in an industrial operational/supply chain role, preferably with line management experience, in one or more industry sectors. Operational experience could include activities such as: planning, budgeting, site relocations, performance improvement activity or design and operation of core end-to-end operational processes (e.g. Design to Manufacture, Order to Ship, Sales and Operational Planning, etc.).
An excellent understanding of the overall Supply Chain functions and the typical organisational structures, processes, controls, systems and performance metrics/ benchmarks.
• Awareness of current leading practice and future trends in creating efficient and effective supply chain functions, including supporting business strategy, operating model design and implementation, disruptive technologies and creating insight from data.
• Exposure to the operational issues created by supply chain integrations, separations and carve outs.
• Experience of supporting ops and supply chain change projects and business improvement in industry or a consulting environment.
• Awareness of organisational change in supply chain / operational functions.
• A keen interest in mergers and acquisitions.
• Financial and commercial awareness.
• Strong presentation skills and experience (oral and written).
• Good client/supplier/customer relationship skills.
• Analysis and problem solving.
• Report writing.

Individuals should be comfortable working in the high pressured yet often ambiguous and flexible conditions that characterise transactions.
