The Team

Our Local Government Team is an integral part of KPMG’s Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare Practice. Joining our industry leading practice will expose you to work on a range of high profile assignments helping local government address their most challenging issues and achieve their biggest opportunities. You will benefit from working with and alongside specialists from a number of disciplines and experts from our Global Centres of Excellence.

The Role

We expect our Managers to be able to perform in key areas: Delivery of projects; Sales and business development and Practice development. The Manager appointed will focus on successfully delivering Local Government client engagements. Their technical competence will be in Operations Transformation and they will also contribute more broadly to the growth of Operations Transformation across the wider KPMG Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare practice.

Delivery of projects:

You will lead the delivery of council projects and support the delivery of large scale performance improvement and transformation programmes; working with clients across a broad spectrum local government engagements including:

- fiscal challenges faced by local government

- local government reform

- social care demand and redesign

- performance improvement

Successful candidates will be expected to manage work, leading teams with support from the Local Government leadership team and working collaboratively with KPMG colleagues and clients to:

- Support the delivery of large programmes/ engagements that implement practical change for the benefit of service users. Often working as workstream leads

- Provide insight based on detailed analysis and international best practice

- Plan and deliver changes to help improve operational performance and reduce costs

- Support the reconfiguration of services within an organisation or more broadly across a local government

- Provide specialist and technical input and review of others’ inputs in the design and development of project deliverables

- Contribute to the Operational Transformation capability and business development.

The Person

You will a demonstrable working experience of local government, ideally with health and central government knowledge, gained from working in the sector and/or providing consultancy support to the sector.
The ideal candidate will have deep and relevant experience evidenced by their demonstrable track record of delivering change in local government.
