The Role

This role is to join our UK Healthcare Advisory practice as a Manager. The role can be based in anyone of our major offices in the UK (Birmingham, Nottingham, London, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh/Glasgow).

As a Manager within our Healthcare practice, you will be central to the development of our account strategy as well as implementation of large scale public service reform, sustainable performance improvement and large scale transformation programmes.

We are particularly interested in candidates with deep experience in one or more of the following areas:

- System redesign – transforming the way in which care is provided through work with Clinical Commissioning Groups, Integrated Care Systems or Strategic Transformation Partnerships
- NHS provider experience – working with providers to improve their quality and operational performance
- NHS workforce transformation – advising national, regional or local bodies in workforce strategy, planning, evaluation or analytics
- Financial transformation – strategic financial advice, analysis and planning to healthcare systemsOur growth ambitions are significant, and your role is to help us to continue to grow our client base across providers and system partners through the delivery of exceptional client outcomes as part of our engagement team. Outside of client engagements, you will actively contribute to the internal strategy and day to day running of the Healthcare team.

Although predominantly aligned to Healthcare, the role will be within our Infrastructure, Government and Health (IGH) business so opportunities to work in other public sector markets may also be available.

Responsibilities

You will be working with clients from a broad spectrum of organisations including:

- National bodies such as NHS England and NHS Improvement
- NHS Providers and Commissioners
- Health and care partnerships such as Integrated Care Systems
- Local Authorities, Combined Authorities, Arms’ lengths council organisations and trusts
- Central Government Departments – including Local Government
- Private sector providers of health, housing, welfare and care services
- Charities and voluntary organisationsSuccessful candidates will work collaboratively with KPMG colleagues and clients to:

- Implement practical change to improve outcomes for service users, customers and patients
- Provide insight based on detailed analysis and international best practice
- Plan and deliver changes to help improve quality and operational performance targets within a provider or across a care system
- Assess and advise on the application of digital and technology solutions to solve complex problems
- Introduce and evaluate new ways of working, for example to the workforce, governance and leadership models, as well as core systems and processes
- Reconfigure services within an organisation or more broadly across whole systems, and with partners across a whole place – for example Greater Manchester
- Support the integration of public services on a Place basis including health and social care, children’s services, work and welfare; housing and homelessness
- Provide expertise in prevention, early intervention and demand management
- Support the design and delivery of public service reform programmes
- Move services into alternative settings, commercial vehicles or partnerships, for example developing new models of care.The Person

You will be a talented and ambitious Consultant or Manager with previous operational improvement, system redesign, workforce transformation or financial transformation experience either from consulting, the NHS, local government, private healthcare or a life sciences company.

You may also be from a different sector, with easily transferable experience in LEAN, large scale transformation or similar disciplines. You will have the credibility and experience to lead KPMG and client teams to appraise, plan and deliver complex service change across health and local government. You will have a good understanding of the policy agenda and demonstrate a strong desire to support practice development.

Essential skills:

- Ability to lead KPMG project teams delivering client engagements
- Ability to translate cultural changes into quality, safety, financial and sustainable outcomes
- Robust knowledge of the NHS and plans for its future
- Ability to be pragmatic and innovative in problem solving, including Lean-based Improvement techniques
- Ability to coach others and drive forward a team to successfully bring about positive change
- With support of KPMG leadership, the ability to identify risk and manage commercial and client delivery risks in a high-pressure environment
- Project Management skills including planning and prioritise work within deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate an ability to forge and successfully maintain relationships
- Be outcome focused, enthusiastic and self-motivated
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication and reasoning skills
- Have an awareness of Lean transformation (desirable)

Qualifications

Ideally degree level qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent experience. Professional project management, programme management or clinical qualifications are desirable.

Accountancy qualification and evidence of a strong financial background is essential for financial transformation roles.
