Job Description
Background to the role:

KPMG is looking to consolidate its leading position within the insurance marketplace by appointing talented and enthusiastic advisors into newly-created manager roles. Forthcoming new requirements from the IASB will generate a significant amount of change in the insurance industry over the next three to five years. As a trusted partner within the industry, KPMG will be supporting insurance companies throughout this accounting change across a range of disciplines including financial reporting, actuarial, IT and management consulting disciplines.

Successful applicants will be working on some of the largest opportunities in the marketplace and will be exposed to excellent career development within a fast-growing, multi-disciplinary team. Managers will be given the opportunity to utilise both advanced technical skills and top class consulting skills. Working alongside directors and partners, you will be in a senior client facing role, forging strong relationships with top tier insurance clients.

The role will take responsibility for a mix of work:

-Leading and delivering technical advisory projects and research on IFRS as it relates to insurance

-Lead and deliver on a variety medium to small sized, advisory engagements, playing a key role in interpreting new requirements specifically for the insurance companies with whom we are working and liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders
-Manage and coach multi-disciplinary teams

-Thought leadership to enhance KPMG’s market profile and coverage

-Create and contribute to high quality thought leadership for publications, training events and seminars
-Take a leading role in the identification of business development opportunities and the preparation of client proposals

-Supporting the internal KPMG knowledge network

-Develop an internal network within KPMG to provide support to other parts of the firm
-Prepare and deliver presentations and seminars on technical topics both internally and externally

The individual we are looking for:

-Is interested in applying their technical accounting expertise to a multitude of tasks and variety of projects in a client facing role
-Is a self-starter who is enthusiastic about technical accounting challenges
-Monitors and upholds high quality of service and products to clients
-Builds the reputation of KPMG through the quality of work, knowledge and experience
-Analyses problems and innovates through proposing and delivering solutions
-Has the ability to investigate, evaluate and integrate information
-Sustains a high level of drive whilst working both as a team member and autonomously
-Has strong leadership skills and is keen to develop and coach less experienced staff members

Experience required:

-A thorough working knowledge of IFRS 4 and insurance-related financial reporting
-A strong understanding of and experience working with or in the insurance industry
-Consulting and professional services experience is advantageous but not essential
-Experience managing medium to small sized projects and assignments
-Strong communication and presentation skills including an ability to communicate complex ideas to clients both written and verbally
-Educated to degree level or equivalent is essential
-A professional accounting qualification is advantageous
