KPMG’s Global Strategy Group (GSG) is looking at hiring a number of exceptional candidates, across grades, to join the ESG Strategy team. The team has high demand from clients for its ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) Strategy work is looking to attract talented individuals who have a passion for identifying and creating bespoke ESG solutions to join the existing team.

The role of GSG is to work with C-level Executives to identify, structure and solve their most critical strategic issues across the economic and transaction cycles. As part of a fast-paced and dynamic group, our consultants offer strategic advice on financial, business and operating models to corporate, public sector and private equity clients.

In this role, you will work within the ESG Strategy team, which forms part of KPMG’s Strategy & Value Creation team in Deal Advisory. The market is undergoing unprecedented change in order to adapt and grow in a fast moving environment where demographic shifts, changing customer needs and expectations, technology advancements, geo-politics and regulatory change are increasing pressure on financial, business and operating models and driving disruption and sector convergence. Responsibilities
You must have a passion for ESG and to help clients develop effective, responsible corporate strategies. To be a successful Manager in ESG Strategy, applicants will be expected to:

• Design and manage ESG strategy projects, based on our propositions, on a day-to-day basis for our clients
• Articulate how our solutions assist our clients’ specific needs and develop storyboarding for proposals and client deliverables
• Generate points of view and opinions on ESG topics to take to clients and/or write market leading thought leadership
• Liaise effectively with clients whilst working on engagements and act as an ‘ambassador’ for KPMG
• Produce client ready deliverables that exceed expectations and requires limited review
• Undertake KPMG strategy training and ESG development programme
• Manage and coach more junior members of the team, to facilitate on-the-job learning
• Develop solutions to complex problems and challenge the thinking of more senior colleagues and clients
• Support the identification of on-sell / cross-sell opportunities
• Develop rapport and solid working relationships with client counterparts and maintain them outside of engagements
• Be a strong and effective team player
• Provide timely feedback and coaching to other team members
• Work flexibly across sectors and propositions
• Understand risk and ensure the Firm’s risk management frameworks are fully adhered to at all times

Skills, qualifications and experience required:

To succeed in this demanding role the applicants will need to demonstrate the following:

• Relevant experience of working for a strategy house, strategy area of a Big 4 firm, or central strategy team of a large company
• Strong knowledge of ESG and climate trends covering all aspects such as risks, opportunities, regulation, reporting etc
• Ability to manage client engagements on a day-to-day basis with teams ranging from 2-10 people, both on-shore and off-shore
• Proven track record of constructing detailed strategy engagements with complex ESG scenario and sensitivity analysis
• Strong analytical and storyboarding skills
• Relevant experience in on-sell / cross-sell opportunities, growth and operational costs projects
• Experience in business development activity e.g. building relationships with client counterparts during engagements
• A pragmatic approach to analysis and problem solving, able to implement structure and conceptual models in complex client environments
• Ability to assess information to distil the key strategic insights and convey these clearly and succinctly, both orally and in written form.
• An ability to work both collaboratively and individually; be comfortable developing answers and solutions including when the client requirements are ambiguous or changing.
• Track record of contributing to thought leadership and knowledge management activities
• Lead workstreams and take responsibility for small teams
• Strong people skills with a passion for helping people develop

The person

You must have a passion for ESG and to help clients develop effective, responsible corporate strategies. In addition, you will need to:

• Have experience in ESG strategy consulting and ideally, in circular economy services. Target areas of expertise include Circular economy concepts & case studies, business and revenue model creation, metrics and reporting processes.
• Be a good communicator (e.g. Excellent verbal and written communication skills)
• Confident Self starter
• High level of applied thinking and inquisitiveness
• Strong numerical and analytical skills combined with sound commercial acumen
• Ability to form excellent working relationships both within KPMG and with clients
• Flexibility to adapt to a variety of different engagement types, working hours and work environments and locations
