Manager - Valuations - Corporate Finance – Real Estate Valuations

Job Summary:
The valuation team are seeking candidates to apply for the role of manager to support the real estate valuations group, based in London. The real estate valuations team is a part of a wider business valuations team and advises on matters across different deal stages and supporting a wide range of UK and multinational clients in areas such as transaction pricing, fund reporting, valuations for tax purposes, fairness opinions, and financial reporting. The team works at the real estate asset level but also performs valuations for real estate businesses and platforms and operates across multiple real estate sectors and asset classes. Key responsibilities include the following
- Acting as project manager for the engagement including day-to-day contact with the client, understanding the clients’ needs and drafting effective storyboards;
- Attending client meetings and leading / presenting sections of work with clarity and impact;
- Full ownership and responsibility for delivering comprehensive written reports tailored to each client’s specific needs and requirements on the project;
- Using own initiative and sound judgement to identify key issues and client needs, developing solutions, elevating and consulting with other members of the valuations team or wider KPMG network as required;
- Building and reviewing financial and valuation models of various complexity levels;
- Coaching junior team members on projects and providing a first line of review of their work;
- Participating and running team meetings and technical training; and
- Managing engagements to the agreed budget, time and quality standards.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) / American Society of Appraisers (ASA) qualification or equivalent preferred (accounting qualification such as ACA accepted provided relevant valuation experience);
- Valuation experience in commercial real estate (trading-properties/hospitality real estate sector preferred but not essential);
- Strong quantitative and Excel / modelling skills with ability to model property performance and waterfalls from property financial statements, ownership documents, budgets and leases combined with market data;
- Excellent attention to detail with an ability to deliver high quality presentations and analysis;
- Strong understanding of the range of valuation methodologies for different real estate asset classes including discounted cash flow, capitalised yield and depreciated cost approach methods;
- Strongly rated self-starter who demonstrates initiative, confidence and solid influencing skills;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Ability to manage multiple projects; and
- Exceptional people skills and proven ability to mentor and develop more junior team members.
