Service Line InformationOur Banking Accounting Advisory team work closely with other high impact functions within KPMG such as Risk Consulting and Management Consulting to provide a wide range of accounting advisory services including the following:
- Technical accounting support on accounting and regulatory change projects such as IFRS 9 Financial Instruments, new UK GAAP, FINREP and Pillar 3
- Accounting advisory on transactions and financial reporting such as on-call accounting advisory, review of accounting policy and manual and financial statements as well as with respect to business structuring
- Providing high quality and practical training and education for external and internal audiences.

We are currently seeking Managers to join our Accounting Advisory, Financial Services – Banking department in London during a significant period of growth.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Manage IFRS 9 client opportunities, deliver live IFRS 9 engagements, leading small teams and providing input to larger multi-disciplinary teams
- Assist clients in their IFRS 9 implementation programme through delivering client workshops/training, direct assistance in performing the assessment and/or review of clients’ assessment. You will assist senior management of the team to deliver these services to clients
- Review technical accounting and risk interpretations required for IFRS 9 prepared by clients
- Provide clients with advice on technical accounting issues and broader impacts of IFRS 9
- Taking an active role in the identification of business development opportunities, develop KPMG’s IFRS 9 client proposition and thought leadership collateral, and assisting in the responses to IFRS 9 client proposals, with a primary focus on financial services (in particular banking clients)
- Write and review client reports based on analytical exercises (e.g. review of clients’ technical accounting decisions, stakeholder interview) to present findings and recommendations
- Manage and mentor engagement team members

There will also be opportunities to get involved in other accounting areas as well as regulatory areas, e.g. FINREP, leverage ratio, Basel.

Qualifications and Skills

- Professional qualification; ACCA or equivalent
- Strong analytical skills in relation to impairment techniques and Project Management skills, demonstrated by a record of accounting project delivery
- Strong ability to evaluate technical issues, analyse facts, consult and deliver solutions to clients
- Excellent written and communication skills; including delivering presentations and an ability to communicate well with clients in writing and verbally

Experience and Background

- Relevant experience in accounting/auditing within financial services industry; particularly around application of IAS 39, IFRS 9 and credit provisioning preferably in Banking
- Prior experience with Impairment process desirable, as well as demonstrated experience in accounting change projects
- Robust technical understanding of IAS 39 and IFRS 9 standard and crucially the practical application within the banking industry
- Knowledge of finance processes, in particularly accounting processes and / or reporting requirements advantageous
- Proven ability to identify and pursue business opportunities whilst maintaining a solution mindset as well as drive and resilience to deliver in a pressured environment
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience of managing a team of professional staff as well as stakeholder and relationship management skills
- Commitment to building the reputation of KPMG through the quality of work, knowledge and experience relevant to the Banking industry
