Roles and Responsibilities


The head of General Counsel (GC) business development will sit in KPMG Legal Services in the UK, operating as a senior manager (B Grade), with future opportunities for progression based on role development. The role holder will promote engagement with GC’s and work closely with our Legal Services teams and more widely with the KPMG business to design and execute our GC engagement programme. The role will have strong international aspects to it as we operate as a global firm of over 2400 lawyers in 78 countries and will leverage the GC engagement programme on an international basis, so will involve international travel. Intrinsic parts of the role will to be facilitate GC engagement and insight and to connect KPMG with opportunities to support GC’s with client solutions.


Qualifications and Skills



The suitable candidate will have experience and qualifications in business development, marketing, media and events, coupled with strong legal sector expertise and contacts. The candidate must be confident and experienced in dealing with in-house legal counsel to the most senior levels and have an energetic and engaging style that will allow them to connect effectively and confidently with GC’s and business leaders. The candidate will also have a good understanding of the sorts of issues that GC’s and their teams are dealing with and be confident and effective in connecting them with KPMG client solutions or services.


Experience and Background


The right candidate will need to be able to evidence that they have a track record of achievement in the areas described above. They will have a network of established contacts and a track record of engaging effectively with those contacts. The suitable candidate will be able to demonstrate ways in which they have been able to add significant value to the GC through a deep understanding of their roles and the challenges they face.
