The Reporting and Analysis team, within Global Finance, is accountable for collecting and analyzing KPMG's key network data across a wide range of financial and non-financial KPIs. We play a vital role in informing KPMG’s global strategy through effective financial planning, performance management reporting and strategic analysis.
Our external reporting remit is currently expanding to enhance KPMG’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) reporting. To this end, we are working closely with KPMG’s Global Corporate Affairs function, with their role in protecting and enhancing KPMG’s reputation through corporate citizenship, public policy and communications.

We believe that improved corporate reporting, which better reflects natural, social and human capitals, is vital to better align with the Sustainable Development Goals and hence to create a more inclusive, prosperous, sustainable and resilient world. Stakeholders expect ever greater transparency and expanding the breadth and depth of ESG reporting is a key enabler of our global collective strategy. We aspire to lead by example, both as a reporting advisor and as a key member of the external groups which have enhanced the practices around ESG reporting.

Role summary
The Integrated and ESG Reporting Senior Manager

will be responsible for driving the information that supports KPMG’s Global ESG reporting – what data we collect, how we collect it, data validation, the emerging analysis and ultimately how we report the metrics externally. They will be accountable for providing cohesive recommendations around the ESG data strategy and agreeing the necessary changes with senior stakeholders throughout the organization.

Enhanced data definitions and collection processes will be required, with an initial focus in “project mode”. Thereafter requirements will evolve and be subject to continuous improvement. The Director will also help to enhance KPMG’s wider external reporting, engaging in a constant dialogue with Corporate Affairs as a Business Partner.

Key accountabilities
- 5% Reporting Business Partner to the Corporate Affairs Team
- 25% Execution and operationalization of the ESG reporting strategy
- 25% Definition of ESG data and reporting requirements
- 25% Delivery of external ESG reporting
- 20% Delivery of other reporting and integration with ESG

Key activities and deliverables
Reporting Business Partner to the Corporate Affairs Team:
- Develop the scope and boundary for ESG reporting and related external reporting, considering the feasibility, complexity and internal and external stakeholder interest in the reporting against key metrics.
Execution and operationalization of the ESG reporting strategy
- Ongoing monitoring of best practice ESG reporting, calling upon a wide range of inputs and drivers, including those developed by the external groups which KPMG participates in, such as:- International Integrated Reporting Council
- Global Reporting Initiative
- IFRS Foundation
- Capitals Coalition
- Impact Management Project
- IASB’s Better Reporting Initiative
- World Economic Forum International Business Council’s Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics.
- Participate in relevant Working Groups focused on ESG reporting projects
- Maintenance and management of a clear project plan for new reporting requirements and processes and the communication of status updates to all key stakeholders.
- Assessment and recommendation of reporting frameworks, metrics and methodologies.
Definition of ESG data and reporting requirements
- Agree data requirements to support the external reporting and communication strategies.
- Develop data process collection and best practices for the ESG data sets
- Develop the data dictionary and collection guide for ESG metrics.
Delivery of external ESG reporting
- Maintenance of all timetables around data collection and reporting.
- Review of data received from the network to assess completeness and accuracy.
- Advanced critical thinking and analysis to develop the “value added” insight to help craft compelling external messages.
- Reporting of summarised data in a clear, engaging way.
- Liaison with Corporate Affairs to ensure a clear and consistent message emerges from the data, to guide the narrative of our external reporting. Development of action plans to continuously improve ESG reporting.
- Documentation of each step of the process and the lessons learnt, so that our client service teams can share experience and lessons from our ESG reporting journey.
Delivery of other reporting and integration with ESG
- Delivery of other information to the Corporate affairs team in support of other external reporting, such as Inclusion and Diversity, ensuring interdependencies are effectively managed.
- To deliver the reporting for other internal KPIs that are interdependent with ESG reporting. Also, to help drive the target setting processes required to assess status and trends.

Technical Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of reporting frameworks and methodologies including GRI, SASB, IIRC, the WEF IBC Stakeholder Capitalism metrics and the GHG Protocol.
- Data analysis skills – financial and non-financial.
- A solid grasp of performance metrics / KPIs and target setting.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, influencing and presentation skills.
- Database skills. Data extraction and manipulation. Ability to articulate new database requirements to IT individuals.
- Project management and an understanding of project lifecycles.
- Advanced skills in PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
Description of level of Qualifications
- Masters or Professional Designation, such as accounting
- Reporting & Analysis experience, in a delivery and/or consultative role
Experience & Knowledge
- The ideal candidate would have specific experience in sustainability reporting in a delivery, auditing or consultative role.
- Consideration will however still be given to candidates with an exceptional track record in financial or regulatory reporting, as long as they can demonstrate a core understanding of (and passion for) the underlying ESG drivers.
- Experience of working in an international or diverse cross-cultural environment is essential.
- Adept at managing KPIs and the data needs to support them.
- Comfortable with complexity and finding a new path, with strong business acumen.
- Ability to direct offshore resource to complete underlying data collection and modelling.
- Experience of transformational change, arising from the introduction of new technologies or processes.
- A track record of implementing forward-thinking approaches, with strong influencing skills.
- Effective interaction with senior business leaders, with an ability to establish strong relationships, both internally and externally.
- Proven experience as a "self-starter" - ability to independently identify practical solutions.
- Role model ethical and collaborative working behaviours.
