Job Description
The Public Sector team within Technology Risk Consulting provides services to a range of UK Public Sector clients including those in Central and Local Government, Health, Housing and Education. We are often required to provide specialist IT assurance support to other teams within KPMG.

Our clients in the Public Sector are facing significant challenges and are turning to technology solutions to assist. They are constantly being asked to do more for less. Our services are of both an assurance and advisory nature.

An Assistant Manager within the team would typically be responsible for delivering specific engagements, undertaking and managing day-to-day fieldwork. This includes establishing themselves as a subject matter expert in one or more chosen field of expertise, building strong client relationships (internal & external) and providing initial quality assurance over work done by our graduate trainees / analysts.

Technology Risk Consulting Public Sector provides services of both an assurance and advisory nature that include:
IT Security and Risk Management, IT in the External Audit, IT Internal Audit, 3rd Party risk, Independent Project Assurance, ERP controls (called Business System and Controls), Revenue assurance. A large amount of our work involves providing assurance, advice and attestation to clients on their IT systems and processes, IT risks, IT general controls and IT projects. This work is delivered through stand alone assignments, or as part of external and internal audit engagements.


Roles and Responsibilities

Managing the day-to-day delivery of IT assurance services and reviewing the work of team members; Drafting terms of reference / scoping of IT assurance work; Responsibility for the production of initial draft reports and work papers for client engagements; Building and managing excellent client relationships across a range of clients; Actively identifying and progressing business development opportunities, as well as supporting the team with sales activities such as proposal writing and assisting with client presentation; Developing internal networks and maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues across KPMG, but in particular in the wider IT Advisory areas and the Audit Practice; and Coaching and developing team members on engagements. Contributing to practice management, e.g. training, knowledge management.

Experience & Background


- Proven Public Sector and Healthcare experience of successfully delivering IT assurance services (including external/internal audit) including experience in:
- auditing and advising clients that operate major ERP systems (eg SAP, Oracle & MS Dynamics);
- performing project assurance roles in major IT programmes; and
- reviewing IT aspects of mergers and acquisition activity.
- delivering ISAE 3000 / 3402 and other IT attestation services; and
- delivering data analytics services.
- Experience in business analysis and understanding of core business processes within the Public Sector and Healthcare sector
- Ideally possess a recognised accounting / auditing (eg CISA, ACA, CIMA) qualification or Degree/masters qualification in IT/business.
- Experience in an IT risk and control / audit environment.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in presenting on specific subjects to a group of people (internal staff or clients/potential clients).
- Experience in identifying and assessing complex IT risks and controls, to relate them to the wider business environment and to express opinions clearly.
- Experience in developing excellent client and internal relationships.
- Experience in delivering work within tight timescales, to budget and to a high quality.
- Excellent team player but able to work on own initiative
