Job Description
Business Finance is a c160 people strong collective of business-side partners that work in close proximity to the client-facing organisation as part of the KPMG Business Services Business Partner community.

Through process and policy they help to ensure governance and control over the firm’s financials and through analysis and insight they help business leaders make the best commercial decisions.

Strong relationships, deep expertise and a reputation as trusted advisors help the team advise and challenge in equal measure and play an integral part in the achievement of the firm’s strategic objectives.

Role and Responsibilities

- As Head of Finance, the role is a wide ranging role supporting the leadership to achieve commercial success against a number of KPIs
- Reporting through the Business Finance Directors, this role will have direct access to ExCo members and a number of other senior stakeholders
- As part of the wider coverage KBS support team (including HOPO, HR, Resourcing, etc), be the finance lead/go to person on key financials
- To drive key financial processes, being the ‘expert’ and providing support and guidance to the leadership team as appropriate
Business Partnering

- Acquire a thorough understanding of the business area being supported
- Build strong and trusting relationships with key stakeholders
- Oversee the tracking and reporting of all performance KPIs - especially those that have a P&L impact
- Manage delivery of commentaries, MI packs and briefing papers, both standardised and ad hoc, in accordance with business priorities
- Drive standardisation and efficiency in use and production of MI in general, challenging exceptions
- Own delivery of Finance business partnering services to a given part of the business, and work with finance teams and stakeholders to upskill where required
Commercial Management

- Drive commercial agenda across a business area, allowing the business to understand the potential upside of taking relevant actions
- Support FBP team in delivering more commercially focussed support
Plan/Budget/Forcast

- Lead the Finance work-stream in relation to Business planning, budgeting and forecasting
- Own the delivery of Business planning, budgeting and forecasting across a business area, including challenging Leadership on underlying assumptions
Financial Control / Management

- Stewardship over the P&L, ensuring that the accounts accurately reflect the financial position of the business
- Manage cost management processes and spend controls
- Ensuring that the BP team take appropriate action to understand and challenge all cost items and escalate issues
- Ensure Finance processes and policies are adhered to. Challenge deviation and always be forward thinking about improvements
Working Capital Management

- Drive working capital behavioural change and support the finance teams in owning the KPIs associated with this and delivering improvement
Team Management

- Manage overall team, including the development of talent and the manifestation of business partnering behaviours
- Manage the workload of the team through effective demand management and prioritisation
- Support recruitment across Business Finance as required
Finance Community

- Act as a leader of the finance community, including active participation in relevant forums
- Be an advocate for change programmes delivered by Finance / KBS, including automation tools, self-service, standardisation and any other changes in ways of working
Skills and Experience

- A qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
- A proven track record of operating at a Head of Finance/Financial Controller level within a Professional Services environment
- Ability to be both pragmatic and innovative
- Commercial proficiency
