The Team

We are a team of 200+ technologists providing technology enablement services and solutions across the Tax and Legal business.

The team is made up of Product Owners, Business Analysts, Multi-disciplinary Engineering teams and IT Service delivery professionals working on a large portfolio of systems used to improve productivity and solve key business problems across Tax & Legal.

The Role

Our Data and Analytics team are at the forefront of the Digital transformation for Tax and are a key growth area for our business.

Data is critical to the strategy of our business; this role will give you an opportunity to shape the future of our business by leading a team of data specialists to be at the forefront of transformation of our Tax and Legal practice.
Working with a mixture of UK and India based engineers spanning both Data and Software engineering, you will play a key role in leading the Data Analytics team to design and implement data driven solutions across our business.

You will embed best practice and the use of innovative technologies to ensure the quality of our solutions are market leading.

You will help to manage our Data Engineering & Analytics team of 36 people, taking on a key leadership role responsible for strategic decision making with the support of a team of senior technical leads.
The role can be based anywhere in the UK, though preference will be given to candidates in Glasgow and London. Regular travel to Glasgow or London will be required once travel conditions permit this. Remote or part-time workers are welcome to apply.

Whilst there is no expectation of existing knowledge of tax, we would expect you to develop a degree of domain knowledge over time.

You will:
- Lead on complex data & analytics programmes of work from strategy through to execution.
- Work closely with clients and senior business stakeholders as a trusted partner, helping them realise the value of data.
- Ensure Data & Analytics strategies are underpinned by effective best practice.
- Have responsibility for the management and technical development of the Data Analytics team.
- Work closely with the CDO and Enterprise Data team to align Tax & Legal to firm wide polices and tooling.
- Support the Tax CTO and tech leadership to plan and roll out data projects across the business.
- Leverage technology vendors in the data analytics space to deliver solutions to our clients.
- Act as a technical lead on the build and implementation of client solutions across the data lifecycle - data sourcing, management, quality, reporting & analytics.
- Contribute to business development opportunities by promoting the potential of data in client pitches, and supporting on RFPs
- Identify new opportunities to capture and analyse data, along with alternative ways of making better use of the data we hold.
- Promote and oversee the implementation of emerging and innovative technologies, especially around how we apply advanced analytics.
- Lead on Information assurance initiatives, ensuring our data solutions comply with risk and information security policies.
- Develop our people through coaching, mentoring, performance management and fostering an inclusive working environment.
The Person
- Have extensive experience growing and leading large Data Analytics teams.
- Have proven experience delivering complex data programmes, ideally within a financial services or similar environment.
- Have demonstrable knowledge around key tools within the Data Management or Analytics market.
- Be passionate about the value data can bring to support delivery of key business objectives and insights to our clients.
- Be able to influence business strategy by articulating your ideas across a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Have experience in key data & analytics tools and strategies – Machine Learning, Analytics, Data Lakes/Stores, Data Visualisation
- Be able to translate a set of highly complex technology deliverables into business benefits.
- Be a highly competent and empathetic people manager, able to lead, inspire, mentor, and get individuals to perform to the best of their ability.
- Have extensive experienced working in an Agile environment, using Scrum, SAFE or LEAN methodologies.
- Be a confident verbal and written communicator
