The Practice operates strategically over four cross-functional business areas including Operational Excellence, Digital Transformation, Tax Technology and Tax Enablement, leveraging the depth and breadth of skills to boost the capability of the GCT as a priority service line.

Job DescriptionBackground

KPMG’s Corporate Accounting team provides a variety of accounting and tax support services to help businesses with their finance and compliance requirements. Our client base comprises mid-market and large corporate clients who outsource some or all of their UK finance activities. Some of our clients are established household names and market leaders across a range of industries, including entertainment, retail and real estate. Others are newly formed UK branches or subsidiaries of overseas companies. Our clients may choose to outsource their full finance function to us or a specific task such as preparation of statutory financial statements for a whole group.

The department provides a range of financial compliance services including preparation and review of UK statutory financial statements and management accounts (from large outsourcing engagements to individual entities) and VAT compliance services.

Key responsibilities

The department is seeking to recruit a fully qualified accountant. Qualified candidates should hold the ACA, ACCA, or recognised equivalent qualifications. Candidates should ideally have experience of providing excellent client service in practice. Candidates should have excellent core accounting skills. Direct experience of preparing accounts and VAT returns is desirable but not essential as we will provide training as required to the successful candidate. The scope of work varies from client to client so candidates should be adaptable. There will be a lot of client contact and also a need to manage delivery with our outsourcing teams in India and Hungary.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Preparing and reviewing statutory financial statements and providing audit assistance;
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns;
- Preparing and reviewing management accounts and book-keeping;
- Liaising with other departments and key contacts within KPMG (including corporate tax compliance, Accounting Advisory Services, company secretarial and payroll); and
- Taking ownership of a portfolio of clients.
Skills required

The role is client facing and the employee will be required to liaise directly with the clients, arranging work schedules in respect of the relevant input. The following skills and behaviours are essential:
