Job Description
Our clients need to deal effectively with technology related risks and derive maximum value from data and documentation. Our specialists provide independent, jargon free advice and advanced technology capabilities to help our clients proactively manage their technology risks and use their data to its full potential.

The Role

Given the increase in the number of FTech engagements and the corresponding demand on our infrastructure, a strong Infrastructure Support Assistant is required to support the FTech Infrastructure Manager to ensure effective delivery of current and future projects. On a day-to-day basis, the FTech Infrastructure Support Assistant will work under the direction of FTech Infrastructure Manager, Senior & Project management teams and closely with the KPMG TechSolutions team, and will oversee the team’s hardware and software infrastructure in the delivery of engagements. The nature of the work will include out of hours work.

- The candidate will need to engage effectively with the KPMG business and with the third party hosting provider to ensure the systems are delivered in accordance with requirements and thereafter remain operational in accordance with agreed service levels.
- The candidate will be expected to understand in detail the points of integration across multiple platforms. This will include Applications, Firewalls, Network, and Storage and server farm interdependencies.
- The candidate will need to possess excellent technical skills around core technologies associated with on premise and private cloud platforms.

The Person
The successful candidate will work with the FTech Infrastructure Manager in overseeing the FTech infrastructure platform including maintenance, developments, system / software upgrades and implementing a long term strategy for the department’s infrastructure.

To succeed in this role you will need to demonstrate the following experience and skills:
- To assist with the day-to-day management of infrastructure.
- Developing and Managing service improvement plans and identifying new processes and procedures to support software and infrastructure.
- Ensure successful delivery of services, and implementation of agreed operational service levels that can then be managed.
- Refinement of processes and technology to meet the needs of the operational team and client interfaces with the FTech infrastructure.
- Overseeing all project work carried out by TechSolutions team, ensuring successful implementation and quality reviews.
- Incident management and reporting, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations and client facing platforms.
- Production and implementation of processes and associated service levels in conjunction with third party vendors.
- Ensure the relationship between third party vendors are managed and comply with the service agreements.
- Undertake regular review meetings and the management of service improvement plans.
- Develop capacity planning to ensure the infrastructure is future proof, ensuring the business continues to have the technological edge over its competitors
- Able to engage with Technical SMEs, Project managers, service managers and business stakeholders to ensure the solutions meet the requirements of small, medium and large-scale technical deliverables.
- Able to function under pressure, trouble shoot, enforce structure where necessary and prioritize between competing activities.

- A good all round knowledge of PC-based systems, including hardware and basic Windows operating skills.
- Knowledge of database systems such as MS Access or MS SQL Server.
- The ability to focus on detail, work methodically and to be able to communicate effectively with others.
- A pro-active and empathetic attitude to end-user issues.
- Flexibility when planned activities are challenged by changing circumstances or issues arising.
- Desirable: some experience with virtualised environments and tools such as VMware, vRealize Orchestrator, etc.
- Desirable: some experience or knowledge of infrastructure monitoring and automated management practices.
