Department Information and Context
In Financial Transformation, we improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the finance function and generate real insights to help deliver value to the business. Our mission statement is to create a sustainable practice which is recognized as being a leader in the industry.

Our Financial Transformation practice is a priority area for significant and strategic growth. The team works with leading corporate clients, focusing on understanding the core issues and opportunities to deliver value-adding change across their Finance functions. The key drivers of change for our clients are: changing regulation, technology implementations, and a desire to progress along the maturity curve.

Roles & Responsibilities
The role will sit within the newly formed UK Corporate Governance team which brings together several of our Consulting service lines to build a market leading UK SOx offering for our Clients. The new offering will work with Clients to strengthen their internal governance and controls environment taking them beyond compliance and positioning internal controls at the centre of business transformation to drive operating efficiency and effectiveness.

Successful candidates should have prior experience in a large corporate, as well as in-depth knowledge of finance processes, finance technology, internal controls and change management.

They should also be able to demonstrate the ability to carry out the following activities:

Client delivery
• Manage Client projects, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of engagement outputs and Client outcomes
• Provide structure and direction to the engagement delivery team to achieve the project objectives
• Build positive and collaborative relationships with senior Client stakeholders
• Identify performance improvement opportunities for Clients

Business Development
• Build and leverage both internal and external relationships to support Partners / Directors / Senior Managers to create business development and sales opportunities for the firm
• Contribute to the development of response for proposals (RFPs) to Client opportunities
• Seek out opportunities to bring value to the Client through engaging with other parts of the firm where appropriate
• Support voice-in-the-market activities by contributing to external marketing such as publications, events, and our website

Practice Development
• Take ownership of building sections of KPMG specific methodology and intellectual property to bring our UK SOx proposition to the market
• Support senior management with internal operational responsibilities for the team such as budgeting and resource planning
People Management
• Lead and/or contribute to formal training, knowledge sharing, networking activities for the team
• Supervise, coach and review the work performed by peers and colleagues
• Take on performance management responsibilities for more junior grades, contributing to annual talent reviews and supporting career progression

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Our UK SOx proposition looks beyond compliance, using regulatory transformation as the springboard for change to improve all layers the operating model of finance functions

Successful candidates should have:

1. Experience in the finance, internal audit, or external audit function of a leading corporate entity or professional services firm
2. A strong understanding of the operating model of a finance function including systems, data, processes, controls and governance. Can explain the challenges facing finance functions and good practice in each operating model layer, specifically in relation to internal controls
3. Track record of managing projects and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to achieve transformation and business outcomes
4. An advanced understanding of issues and challenges UK listed companies are facing in the Corporate Governance area and the current government proposals in relation to corporate governance reform

Core skills & experience:
• Experience working with a diverse stakeholder group
• Advanced problem solving and analytical skills with proven ability to use data effectively to identify and resolve issues
• Ability to create and deliver presentations and outputs for Client review
Additional skills and experience (preferred)
• Accountancy qualification (or equivalent experience)
• Management of a team, including allocating tasks, reviewing outputs, and performance management
• Prior consulting experience is desirable but not essential
