In Financial Transformation, we improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Finance function and generate real insights to help deliver value to the business. Our mission statement is to create a sustainable practice which is recognized as being number one in the industry.

Our Financial Transformation practice is a priority area for significant and strategic growth and the team works with leading Investment and Retail Banks, focusing on understanding the core issues and opportunities, to deliver value-adding change across their Finance & Risk functions. The key drivers of change for our Banking clients are regulatory reform, cost reduction and Finance optimisation and our service offerings reflect this demand.

The Role
The role sits within our Regulatory and Control Transformation Capability working
with Clients to deliver regulatory change as well as strengthen their internal governance and controls environment. The capability focuses on delivering more than pure compliance and positions regulation and control at the centre of business transformation to drive operating efficiency and effectiveness.

Successful candidates should have excellent Banking Industry experience, as well as in-depth knowledge of Regulatory Reporting processes, Regulatory implementation programmes and Financial Control Frameworks.

They should also be able to demonstrate the following:

Client Delivery

Mobilising and leading major and complex regulatory and/or SOX projects/programmesAbility to manage cross-functional global engagement teams, both internally within KPMG, and external Client teams

Leading development of technology enabled Client solutions and propositions

Business Development

The role sits within our Regulatory and Control Transformation Capability workingwith Clients to deliver regulatory change as well as strengthen their internal governance and controls environment. Practice Development

Perform a lead role in forming internally generated solutions and training that are developed by the Regulatory & Controls Transformation capabilityLead, and form teams to support, the development of initiatives that grow and promote the practice internally and externally

People Management

Assist with goal development and coaching of staff to enable the growth of the junior management team within the FS FT practice

Support the development of junior team members through formal training as well as informal coaching & mentoring


The Person

For Regulatory and Control Transformation specific roles within FT practice we look for:For controls transformation we look for:

A clear understanding of the regulatory environment around internal controls, including the Brydon review and the ongoing consultation of the UK Sox regime.

Demonstrates experience of operating either in a SOX regime or a similar internal controls reporting regime. Can explain the challenges and best practice in executing a SOX style controls testing and controls reporting environment.

Can bring expertise in best in class process and controls knowledge, specific to Retail and/or Investment Banking that could be brought to life through an internal controls transformation.

An appreciation of how to work in a project environment, the setup, their roles and the role of external parties on these transformations.

For regulatory transformation we look for:

A clear understanding of the regulatory environment around UK/EU Prudential reporting (including FINREP, Capital, RWA and Liquidity) for banking and investment entities, and an awareness of the evolving regulatory landscape and ecosystemDemonstrates experience of working in finance and regulatory change and can explain the impact of change to the operating model, across process and controls, governance, data and systems

Understand what good looks like for an end to end regulatory reporting process and can explain the key challenges being faced in moving to an efficient and effective reporting environment

Can bring expertise and best practice in target operating model design and implementation, along with process improvement through technology enabled solutions

Track record of operating in a project environment and able to work with a variety of stakeholders to achieve transformation and business outcomes


Additional skills & experience

Experience of analysis Strategic and business drivers of Financial ServicesBroad knowledge of the Finance function and Finance operating models

Strong people manager who can lead large teams and develop/coach others

Experience of working on Client sales team and developing strong Client relationships

Experience working with and influencing senior stakeholders

Programme and project management experience

Strong analytical and numerical skills

Ability to create and deliver high level presentations and output reviews to senior executives/stakeholders and business managers

Ability to review and challenge information that has been provided by other team members, ensuring the information is ‘fit for purpose’ and at the right level of granularity

Accountancy qualification with strong post qualification experience or equivalent experience (optional)
