KPMG’s marketing function is a vital part of the firm’s business, instigating and managing end-to-end marketing programmes, deploying premium content to build the firm’s brand reputation in the wider market and building relationships with clients at boardroom level which result in profitable revenue.

Business Events and Corporate Hospitality are key components of the Marketing function, contributing to the client relationship management programme, helping to establish and develop relationships with key clients and targets to ensure a consistent KPMG experience. KPMG has a reputation for market-leading Events and Corporate Hospitality, and one of the key strategic priorities of this function is to stay ‘ahead of the game’, with the accent on innovative events and the deployment of the latest technologies to achieve market-making results.

Role summary

The role of the Business Events & Hospitality team is to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the firm’s business events and hospitality programme, and to ensure they support the strategic objectives of the UK firm.

The key objective for the Events & Hospitality Executive is to manage and deliver the London Region Events & hospitality plan, this includes any events and hospitality activity that falls outside of the National Markets marketing programmes, in order to enhance the firm’s profile with both clients and targets.

The Events Executive will manage their own plan of activity, working closely with the London Region Senior Marketing Manager and team. They will also be required to have oversight of budgets and a high level knowledge of event activity for other segments of the business.


The ideal individual for this role will be energetic and highly-organised, someone who enjoys taking on responsibility and making a positive contribution to the activities of the Marketing and Events & Hospitality team.

You will be highly-professional, able to work to timelines, within set budgets and to the exacting standards required in a leading professional services environment.

You will understand the importance of good relationships both within and outside the organisation, using your influencing and negotiating skills to ensure that relationships with third parties work to the best advantage of KPMG, and to promote harmony, understanding and positive contribution internally.

You will understand the impact on events hosted by KPMG as a result of the Ethics standards introduced in June 2016 and refreshed in 2017. In order to constructively challenge the status quo and ensure we run market leading events you will bring your industry knowledge on trends and best practice to the programs, events and team.

You will have a good eye for detail, ensuring that all your events are delivered to exceptional standard, and always with the potential to enhance the KPMG brand.

Key functional aims of this role

- When project managing events and programmes, account manage clients to ensure that expectations are clearly understood and documented;
- Produce key documents for every project – project plan, event schedule, budget, contact lists etc;
- Taking responsibility for compiling and challenging the events plan and contributing to the high-level budget planning;
- Providing high quality management information and analysis (including ROI);
- Ensure best practice is followed when conducting venue sourcing, budgeting, briefs for external agencies, design, Brand & Regularity Compliance (B&RC) and any other suppliers;
- Understand and apply the firms brand and visual identity guidelines and apply this to materials/collateral used during events;
- Apply and abide by GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) rules throughout tasks and continue to champion this with the business;
- Maintain knowledge of best practice within the Business Events and Hospitality market, and support innovative approaches to relationship building through effective events delivery;
- Identify potential and suitable event locations and venues and understand the current market-place and best fit for meeting the London Region event requirements;
- Prepare event materials including delegate lists and packs, name badges etc.;
- Manage or support events on-site, depending on role;
- Manage event follow up activities, including producing feedback, analysis of feedback and recommendations to improve future events, attendance analysis and ensuring all invoices are paid;
- Support the evaluation of events and activities in line with budget, plan and return on investment;
- Maintain client attendance data on CRM and all event budget planning and consolidation on Adobe Campaign;
- Understand the protocols associated with the UK Bribery Act and legislation associated with entertaining Audit and Non-Audit clients and targets to provide recommendations to the business on list of attendees;
- Liaise with our preferred suppliers for all hospitality bookings;
- Manage National Markets Hospitality mailbox and all communications being cascaded by the Events & Hospitality team and any resulting enquiries;
- Demonstrate ability to build strong relationships with peer hospitality and event team members from other markets/segments (and the central events team).

Candidate requirements

- Experience of working in the events function of a large business organisation or marketing/events experience in KPMG;
- Knowledge of corporate hospitality is preferable;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Highly organised and able to multi-task and manage high volumes of work, often unsupervised and at times out of office hours;
- Good time management and ability to work unsupervised. Using initiative;
- Willingness to work late and at weekends as the role requires;
- Approachable, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels;
- Effective communication skills as most stakeholders are senior members of the firm. Able to work with multiple personalities at any given time;
- Excellent reasoning skills;
- Good team player, ready to help out colleagues for their events while always managing own work load effectively;
- Highly proficient in all MS Office packages (including PowerPoint) and knowledge of CRM systems;
- Ability to understand and work to KPMG structure and business processes.

Reports and Accountability

This role will report to the UK Head of Events & Hospitality, with a dotted line to the London Region Senior Marketing Manager.
