The Team:

KPMG’s Financial Services practice is supported by the EMA FS Regulatory Insight Centre (RIC), which aims to lead the market in providing pragmatic and insightful intelligence on risk and regulatory developments to enable clients, policy influencers and colleagues to anticipate, respond to and manage the effects of regulation globally.
The RIC focuses on developments across the EMA region, and where relevant globally, working closely with KPMG’s Brussels Office, with the KPMG ECB Office in Frankfurt for banking, and with colleagues in the US and Asia.

The RIC was established in response to the financial crisis to support our clients deal with the unprecedented raft of regulation impacting the industry. In response to the increased regulatory focus on ESG, specifically FS climate risk, we are looking to expand the team to increase coverage on this important topic.

The Role:

You will support the sector heads in the team on ESG related regulatory updates. The role will include work on both FS-wide and sector-specific topics (Banking, Insurance and Wealth & Asset Management), supporting the sector heads in identifying regulatory trends and issues affecting our clients and in developing thought leadership and insights.

In this role, you will develop an understanding of ESG regulations, impact on clients, current status and the broader regulatory development process. You will also be able to join the dots between different regulations (across sectors) and draft output.

Responsibilities:

You will support the key activities of the RIC, including:
• Maintaining an overview of ESG regulatory developments and support horizon scanning on new regulations, identifying those changes that will have a significant effect on business models, systems or controls. This will in part be done by using and developing our regulatory horizon scanning tool.
• Undertaking research to support the development of internal and external thought leadership and communications.
• Participating in and supporting on ESG working groups.
• Helping to inform propositions as the regulatory agenda changes.
• Supporting industry events and marketing, as directed by sector heads.
• Working with the RIC Marketing and Communications staff on the production of knowledge briefings and thought leadership.
• Coordinating with subject matter experts regarding ESG regulatory developments.
• Publishing relevant insights on collaboration pages in order to keep the network updated with latest developments.
• Communicating effectively with the network, working closely with the UK and other EMA FS teams and across functions.


The Individual:

Knowledge/Experience:
• An understanding of the current issues in the financial services industry or relevant sector
• Experience working with teams on regulatory topics
• Experience working with financial services regulators or on policy work in trade associations is a plus
• Understanding of KPMG internal communications and knowledge management tools
