The Team

The Healthcare and Life Sciences Strategy team within SVC is looking to hire an exceptional Director in our London office. You’ll be a professional, talented individual with a passion for identifying and creating innovative solutions for clients.

The Role

Roles & Responsibilities

• Director appointments are made on the basis of demonstrated track record of leading large, multi-disciplinary teams and building, sustaining and commercialising relationships with clients. As engagement leaders, Directors are expected to play a key role in the development of all aspects of the practice
• Engagement leadership: leading multiple large, complex engagements in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments
• Business development: alongside our markets teams, building, commercialising and sustaining relationships with senior management teams for the benefit of KPMG. Leading relationships with specific clients and developing propositions / thought leadership, focusing on specific themes (e.g. therapeutic areas, therapy types, specific markets etc.)
• Risk management: managing risks appropriately and ensuring KPMG's risk management frameworks are implemented appropriately and effectively
• Team development: identifying team development needs and accelerating development by establishing the appropriate plans and frameworks with particular emphasis on coaching and skills transfer
• Personal development: participating in the career and skills development of more junior staff and acting as a role model with colleagues and clients by living the values of KPMG
• Performance management: being responsible for coaching and performance management of a small number of more junior staff in the department

The Person

You will have relevant experience in one or more of our key propositions (or similar):

Organic and Inorganic Growth strategy: help clients create a clear path to achieve their growth ambition through consideration of their markets, customers and propositions to create a sustainable strategy. In Healthcare and Life Sciences we focus on Commercial Strategy, which includes, for example, launch and commercialisation strategy, pricing and market access, portfolio strategy, competitive strategy and LoE strategy. In terms of inorganic growth, we work with both buy-side and sell-side, supporting our clients throughout the life cycle of a transaction including target identification, red flag analysis, commercial due diligence, business planning etc.

We are seeking a Director with sectoral experience in Healthcare and Life Sciences. This ensures that you have the sector knowledge needed to make a real impact with our clients, and you can build the networks to make the role a success.

As such, you should have experience consulting to clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology and/or public/private healthcare spaces, ideally at a mid-to-large, multi-proposition firm.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• Strong academic background and healthcare and life sciences industry track record
• Extensive experience of delivering healthcare and life sciences strategy engagements, including cross border and multi-disciplinary engagements
• Detailed knowledge of the healthcare and life sciences sector, with the ability to talk credibly to senior management at clients on the key issues facing the industry, potential implications and strategic considerations / options.
• The ability to develop strong client relationships and a proven track record of developing and commercialising new relationships
• An accomplished networker, building relationships both internally and externally to KPMG
• A commercial mind set, with the ability to maximise revenue opportunities for healthcare and life sciences strategy and the wider healthcare and life sciences sector
• A high degree of resilience and a willingness to work under pressure in rapidly changing situations
• Strong personal impact, comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders
• Evidence of working successfully with senior management teams at clients
• Experience of the risks and mitigations associated with the contracting and delivery of consulting services and of risk management frameworks
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills

• A degree in a life sciences subject (e.g. BSc, MSc, PhD, MD, MPharm or post doc) and/or industry background in healthcare and life sciences is desirable but not necessary.
• Demonstrable strategy consulting experience, ideally to the healthcare and life sciences industry
• Able to provide insights and has points of view on the healthcare and life sciences sector

Although the pandemic continues to reshape our world, we anticipate that over the course of time we will return to visiting our clients offices and working away from home. Therefore you should be comfortable being occasionally away from home for 2-4 days
